Kawasaki Motorcycle Evolution 1965-2021

Kawasaki motorcycles are manufactured by the Motorcycle & Engine division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Kawasaki Aircraft initially manufactured motorcycles under the Meguro name, having bought an ailing motorcycle manufacturer, Meguro Manufacturing with whom they had been in partnership. This eventually became Kawasaki Motor Sales. Some early motorcycles display an emblem with "Kawasaki Aircraft" on the fuel tank.
During 1962, Kawasaki engineers were developing a four-stroke engine for small cars. Then some of the engineers transferred to the Meguro factory to work on the Meguro K1 and the SG, a single cylinder 250 cc OHV. In 1963, Kawasaki and Meguro merged to form Kawasaki Motorcycle Co.,Ltd. Kawasaki motorcycles from 1962 through 1967 used an emblem which can be described as a flag within a wing.
Work continued on the Meguro K1, a copy of the BSA A7 500 cc vertical twin. and on the Kawasaki W1. The K2 was exported to the U.S. for a test in response to the expanding American market for four-stroke motorcycles. At first it was rejected for a lack of power. By the mid-1960s, Kawasaki was finally exporting a moderate number of motorcycles. The Kawasaki H1 Mach III in 1968, along with several enduro-styled motorcycles to compete with Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda, increased sales of Kawasaki units

Only brand-new vehicle I ever bought, 1986 ninja 1000R, I loved that bike smooth, porches, vettes, pull up next to me, no chance, for its day it was very quick, great design and solid engine. 4,500 bucks

Kawasaki have always been my favourite m/c brand.. I have 2 in my collection, a 1990 ZXR750 H2, and an A2 ZX12R 💚👍🏼

I have had 2 Kawasakis in recent years and they quickly became my favourite brand I had a 2013 Ninja 300 and now more recently the 2019 Ninja 1000

Started out on the street with sportbikes on Kawis in early 90s.... 91 EX500, 90 ZX6, 93 ZX7 (the one I still regret selling in 04).... Ive been mainly on Yamaha and Harleys since my last ZX7, until recently and added a ZH2 to list of bikes in the garage.

I Had couple of Kawasaki in my life Zx6 ‘97 , ZX 12 ‘02-03 , but ZX7 ‘1996 is the best motorcycle IMO ❤ Great balance between power and steering. It was taking corner effortlessly. And it was not a light bike (around 230kg wet )

Very good history but you missed two of the most important 250s Kawasaki ever made, the KR1 and KR1-S, the KR1-S still has the fastest top speed recorded by a production 250, 138 mph, 1 mph faster than the Aprilia RS250.

Interesting. Not sure your dates are correct for UK though. We had GPZ 600 about 1987 (E reg) (Red, Black, Silver) & ZZR 600 about 1990 (G reg) (strange reddish pink). I had one of each myself. What about the GPX 600 too? A mate had one in black around the same era.
