It is a whole lot easier to make two cuts and remove the 8 inches of frame,If the cuts are straight it goes back with welding,Just make sure the ends to be welded are clear of debris

who did you order your plate from? If "GCEXTREME" did you have any issues with plate from him? A few others are throwing shade on his plates on the VN 750 form. Please let me know? TIA

I have pulled the engine to do this job. This is a good mod. Especially on a 30 plus year old bike. Only problem is that the vibration dampeners are sometimes worn and you wouldn't see them

I have a VN1500 that needs a new stator too. Got the new one in yesterday, and I do't think highly of the quality. Going from one winding to the next, they're going to make contact with bare metal. Even with a varnish coating, add an amount of vibration and they'll short to ground. I'm going to (very carefully) arrange for just a little clearance there before I mount it in. It's easy to see why they fail. A short to ground will wipe out the rectifier/regulator too.

Thanks for mentioning that grinder you were using, at the end of the video. I wondered what that was. I have a Harbor Freight nearby. Love that place.

I purchased the grinder at Harbor Freight Tools, about $25. For the bit I used a 1/8 inch drill bit, as it got dull I would cut off the dull end.

When I removed the old stator wires I pulled the rubber plug out of the case, so I now have oil leaking pretty badly from around the yellow wires. I'm trying, (so far unsuccessfully), to stop the leak by filling in around them with Permatex Ultra Blue Silicone. For anyone who asks, in the forum, or elsewhere, how to deal with the wiring from the stator, here is my suggestion. This is how I'd do it, if I had do-overs, which I don't. First, cut the bullet connectors off and remove the rubber plug from the new stator harness. Then solder the new wires to the old ones inside the stator compartment. Now, pull them ONE AT A TIME and VERY CAREFULLY, through the old rubber plug. Then install new bullet connectors on those wires.

were you able to fix that leak?
@viscompulsiva362
@viscompulsiva362 Жыл бұрын
@@zachpalmer947 the permatex ultra Blue did not work. Pretty much got it stopped by putting epoxy around the wires and the hole. Drips a little, but not bad. If you need to do this clean up the wires and the whole area with isopropyl alcohol prior to using the epoxy.

During this process, I am very much afraid that the aluminum chips will get into the engine when the part is milled and later cause greater damage to the engine.

After owning it for a week, I think that I need a new stator on my 2005 vn750. I am no mechanic and am terrified to remove/INSTALL!!! the entire engine and nearly all other assemblies. I am considering this stator mod. Where did you order that machined plate? Am I able to purchase one from the same place?

With all the work you did you could have just done it the right way..took one day.. I pulled the motor aside then removed the cover.. you don't need to take out the motor just move it aside 3 or 4 inches.. that plate thing might work but the stator has to be precise.
