Kawasaki Z1000SX , The O2-sensor Follow-Up Check & Replace spark Plugs

Checking & replacing the spark plugs approx 1800 km after installing the universal O2-sensor. When this video is launched the bike has ridden 3700 Km. No issues at all!
Info from the first video where the O2-sensor was replaced:
Kawasaki Z1000SX, Ninja 1000, Versys 1000 and the fault code 33 ... the oxygen sensor.
I bought my SX brand new in September 2017, I have ridden it approx 33 000 km since then. (20 500 miles)
Apart from the first service @1000km he has never been in for service ... I do everything myself! I am extremely happy with yhe SX! He fits me perfect, and there have been no issues at all ... except from the O2 sensor.
The error code 33 usually appears after washing the bike ... and disappears after a few days of riding. But now the light stays on. I found that this is a fairly common problem on these bikes. Several owners have experienced that the problem is only temporarily solved with a new original sensor.
I declined the warranty fix offered by the dealer, I decided to try a universal O2 sensor ment for car engines. The threads are standard, the 22mm nut is standard, the 12V heater is standard as long as it is not a 5V platinium (Recognized by a red wire).
The only task is to measure oxygen in the exhaust and send the values to the ECU!
There are sensors with 1, 2, 3 and 4 wires. Nowadays the most common is 4 wires. 2 for the heater, one for ground, and a wire for signal.
In Norway an original Denso sensor costs 2900,- NOKs. Approx £250,- or $335,-.
An "expensive" universal O2 sensor (lambda) costs approx 500,- NOKs. Approx £42,- or $57.
I have done this repair using a universal sensor several times on cars. let's see if this will work on an motorcycle engine... an angine is after all an engine!
wiring in this case:
Blue (signal) goes to black
White (ground) goes to grey
Black (heater) goes to white
Black (heater) goes to white

Hello Connie and thanks for this video ! I agree with you for the sparks plugs , i decided to change its every 2 air filters .... I have questions about the quick shifter ; got the same bike, did the quick shifter is UP and DOWN ? How did you install it ? Did you you bring the bike somewhere to "reprogram" the ECU ? Thanks ;)

No ECU programming. Very easy to install. Disconnect the wire to each spark plug and connect the wire from the quick shifter in between, so that power goes via the shifter unit to the spark plug. The shifter unit cuts the power to the ignition for a few microseconds allowing the gears to shift. You mount the sensor on the gear selector. It is very quickly done. The rest you adjust on the app. The bike is so fast that I hardly get to use 2 gears before I'm way over the limit for a prison sentence, so I haven't tried it fully. But I'm very happy with it under acceleration. The shifter works UP, I read somewhere that you also could use it on downshifts, but then the sensor had to stand up, but I have not looked into it. Hello Conny, your videos are very interesting and you seem to know your motorcycle very well! Maybe you can help me, because I have a problem and I can't get any further with my machine. The bike has now done 28,000km and today I changed the air filter and spark plugs. After that the engine would not start. All plug connections, all cables, .. I checked everything. I reinstalled the old spark plugs, unfortunately without success. The ignition, the starter and also the fuel pump work. However, the engine does not start. Do you have any idea what could be causing this? So far I owned a CX500 from 1983 - everything was a bit simpler and much less electronic. I thank you in advance & Best regards Tobi

Hi Tobi First thoughts ... If the bike ran fine before you changed the spark plugs, something must have happened along the way... Could you have misplaced the coils so that the ignition order is wrong? Have you pressed the coils down all the way ... you need some force to install them correctly Flattened the fuel hose when you assembled the bike? Forgot an earth wire?
