Useful video. I am now reinstalling carbs and need a video of how all the vacuum and fuel pipes are connected.

Hey that’s the easiest way I’ve seen for taking these notoriously difficult carbs out - now I feel encouraged to do a carb cleaning on these.

About to rebuild them a third time. Glad to see I was doing it just the way you did it. PITA

Very similar to the 550. Can you post a video of how to remove the throttle cable and grip assembly?

For the life of me I cannot put my carbs back...any tips/ideas? Thanks

Use hair dryer to properly heat up the rubbers in the airbox so they're softer. Put some grease on the intake rubbers in the head so carbs can slide on them a little. It also helps to have one intake rubber from the head removed to start putting the carbs in.

@@Adikxx Good sir, a mere "thank you" doesn´t begin to describe the fact that you took your valuable time to help out a complete stranger. I am truly out for words, but also feel stupid because what you wrote makes perfect sense. I should have come to that conclusion myself! At any rate I will try these out today and, out of respect, let you know how I fared. Once again, thank you so very much good sir.

@@Adikxx I would like to let you know that I put the carbs back THANKS TO YOU. I couldn´t heat the rubber (I had no way how) but I did grease everywhere and (if this helps others) I self-learned another trick, which is to spin the rubbers in the airbox until they are in position. What helped me was to first put all the airbox rubbers in place, then lose the metal grips on the intake rubbers, and grease both. Right now I am trying to put back the throttle cables at the accelerator handle, which I am still struggling with (I should have observed how they are originally put together, y fault) but I hope I will figure that one out soon. Again, thanks for everything, man.

The cables really need to be detached from the throttle twist housing in order to get enough free play to slip them off the carb? That would be annoying as hell. You can't just slack the cable all the way at the clutch lever perch with the free play adjuster barrel? I'd even slack the carb side adjustment before I take the cable off at the throttle twist.

Sadly, yes. But it's one of the easier steps.

@@Andrej158158 mm this isn't the same on all bikes with this carb and engine is it? Maybe because what I had is older: 1987 zn1100 and only had a pull cable. I'm surprised you can't just add slack at both cable adjustment points to be able to get the cables off the carbs.

@@kkc3009 I got the cables off at the carbs on my 750 by taking up all adjustment in cables to get slack and using a pick to get end of cable out. So it is possible.

@@hainessolo420 thank you idk why I was even commenting here. I guess because I thought the way it's intended to be done for this bike is ridiculous but on some bikes it's easier to start at the throttle grip than the carbs. I've refurbished many types of carbs from different motorcycles but only a few times actually found it easier to start at the handlebar. Being that this bike is close to a lot of Kawasaki 1000 and 1100 I expected the carbs to be like most I've done of those and just pull or one side for more slack to undo them at the carbs before removing from the throttle grip if I even needed to do that at all.
