Hi buddy i just bought a zx10r 2008 complete stock exhaust wanting a better sound. Not wanting a full system is it best just to remove the huge silencer buy a slip on or if i removed the catalyst would it need a remap,??? Im confused whats a boom box lol 😂

Don't remove the catalyst or you'll end up tuning your bike. A slip on is better in my opinion. Rode the bike with a new end-silencer for a couple of years. Sounds awesome and no further tuning is required. Even with the DB-killer in it sounds awesome. After I changed the catalyst for this ridiculous system, the bike ran horrible and made WAY to much sound.

Did you gut the cats that are placed in the “y” pipe in the headers there are 4, 2 in each pipe or you just removed the boom box?

Hi, I only removed the so mentioned boom box. Left the CATs where it is because I didn't want to remap. After just one day I replaced the whole thing back as the bike didn't ride as expected with WAY too much annoying noise

Yes, the bike ran terrible after doing this. Changed it back immediately.

Probably cause the catalytic converter is built inside the header.

Did u have headers changed? Or just midpipe and slip on?

Only the midpipe and slip on. The bike needs a tune after this modification. and it is LOUD!

@@Freeflying_kiwi thanks man I appreciate u getting back to me. I punched cats and was adding mid pipe someone told me I had to change headers to make it work. But idk I was sure u can get mid pipe and run with stock headers still. I will say after punching cats I agree with u. It’s loud asf. Thanks again man.

Sure! I had this setup for like 24 hours before I replaced it with my old damper. You can remove the cat and place anything you want there. it will save you some weight but if you want to do it the good way, buy a whole system. The bike will run better with it than the change I did in this video. The silencer in this video is all open and there is no option for any db-killer. So maybe with a db-killer inside it it loud but still okay.

@@adambutcher2462 ya got an 2008 the catalytic converters are built into the headers. Got an m4 full exhaust coming in for mine along w a race bmc filter. I’m getting the flash done as well. I can let you know how that goes hopefully great lol

It does need tune, the bike ride like crap after these exhaust. And gear indicator was confused

@@Freeflying_kiwi How an open exausth can confuse the gear indicator? The reading of the gear is made with speed and RPM

​@@thematurbo240 Not sure why, but I believe is has to do something while reading out my ECU and that this setup requires a Tune. Without a Tune the bike did not react well on this open exhaust. And maybe they are connected to eachother. At the end I do not recommend this setup at all. I swapped back within a day.
