i watch this over and over. As a Drag racer myself, and this vid is old now, I do see an edge. but 100ccs is an edge for sure. each bike here tuned and set up, can run 8's all day in the right hands without lifting so much a valve cover. I got 196.85 hp on 89 octaine pump gas with a "safe" tune, prob could get 207-210 with mr02 fuel. 12 Busa. The 14 can get at least 5-8 hp more with the exact same tune, parts, etc. Its that much more. Gadison can make a big wheel fast, to all the haters.... MUCH RESPECT RICKY!!! I know inside the circle folks who have known you, your dad, uncle. I know the skill set that you have sir. I hope to see you again

My father rides the model a year before, i've felt the power and how easy it is. I know what to expect from such a machine now, i'm buying myself a 600c Honda Hornet to get used to balance and speed, not to mention a indepth test and course before i ride. Still tho, my father, 36 years of riding, is buying this bike and is going to take me out on it. I cannot wait for that day..

You're right.. I read it in the magazine from 2010. Now I checked it on Kawasaki and Suzuki website. ZX-14R have 1441cc and Hayabusa have 1340cc, so difference is 1001cc.. my mistake, sorry ; )

The zx 14 would easily beat the busa on a road race track as well. Iv road both and the handling on the busa is horrible compared to the kawi. The only thing better about the busa is the gear box and that the top end is separate from the bottom end. So its not so bad when you blow them up.

Set up. You can tell by the busas launch that he's chucking the race on purpose. There's enough videos on KZbin that show a busa does not launch that poorly. They threw that famous guy on there and he still couldn't get a good launch? It's called marketing lol

Off the showroom floor the 14r has the advantage, but who out here is riding a stock bike with no mods? An hour long video of pro street finals was recently posted with around 30 bikes. There was like two 14r's, one cbr 1000, and uh 27 Hayabusas. The finals had both suzuki Hayabusas run in the 6's for the first time ever done. Tells me all I need to know which one is made for speed.

i guess i am biased. i have always been a suzuki fan..with a few forays into the harley davidson world. but i absolutely love the hayabusas styling,handling,speed.acceleration. i guess the only way to dethrone the kawasaki is for the engineers in osaka,japan to build a 2000cc hayabusa. this reminds me of the american musclecar horsepower wars of the late 60's-early 70's. before ralph nader and OPEC shut them all down. this is all my humble opinion,gentle readers... have a nice day! :-)

Regardless of which one is a few 10ths better their are other measures for comparing these kings of speed. The biggest thing the Busa has going for it is the sheer numbers ( about 10K in units a year since 1999 ) and aftermarket parts supply. The Hayabusa has more records, more development, and a much bigger fan base than than the ZX-14 crowd. Just look to Bill Warners 311 mph pass in the mile to understand that a turbo Hayabusa can beat anything, I mean anything piston driven in the world !!

Keep in mind that both bikes where designed at the same time so Kawa could not make the diplacement in accordance to a rivalry to Suzuki. After all Kawasaki launched the ZX12R one year after the first Hayabusha that was 1300cc and with 100cc less the Kawasaki was still 4km/h faster in the top speed plus faster at the 0-400 races and had much better handling. So for kawasaki the top Speed never was and never will be an issue. I stil love the engines of the Suzuki 750-1000s though.

this. the suzuki is impressive but has successfully been de-throned, I have and always will be a suzuki fan... but two of my personal friends own these bikes. the guy with the Kawasaki can pass the Hayabusa on the back wheel. Suzuki really needs to step up their game if they want to take back the title because that Kawasaki is insanely fast.

I really appreciate the trouble you have gone to to give a fair hearing to the Hayabusa, and it seems fairly obvious that the Ninja outclasses it. However, if you would like it to prove it to be a true statement that this Ninja is the fastest production bike on this planet you will definitely need to test it against the Suter 500cc two stroke.My confidence is not only in the Suter but that it will beat the Ninja by a greater margin than the Ninja did the Hayabusa. 500cc putting out 200hp easily!

Why? Because once upon a time it used to be the fastest bike out there? Just a few years before it was the Honda Blackbird, but before that, the one that started all this was the Kawasaki ZZR1100, blew away everything in it's day for top speed. Face it, the Busa's had it's day, in a few years and with lifting of performance restrictions it'll be something else but kawasaki will always be the main contender because from the start Kawasaki have always been about performance !

Thank you people dont realize this i just bought a brand new 750, buddies of mine drive 1000s and busa's and i out handle them everytime due to the weight difference driving a busa on your average road is like a 1970s cadillac, good ina striaght line but more for showing off in a parking lot

@Kawasakiforlife7 I don't think you understand me or I didn't explain properly. You have two bikes and you dail in the exact same suspensionsettings on the bikes. However, that doesn't nessesarily mean that the handling will be the same. Each bike has their own optimal set up for whatever you want to do with it. Just dailing in the equal amount of clicks on the suspension, doesn't make them optimal for both bikes.

If you will forgive a little tongue in cheek humour here, "Two strokes rule four strokes drool!" Seriously now, we live in an age of people driving automatic transmissions in "hot cars" just to look good and I cannot help making a comparison between manual transmission and auto transmissions and two stroke engines and four stroke engines, the two strokes of course engendering the "give it everything you've got" attitude.As for power to weight,handling, cornering and breaking, the Suter's got it!

I believe it to be more likely than not that even the Hayabusa may have faired better against the Ninja even to the point of challenging it had it had the Suter 500cc engine in it instead. With all the right transmission for that engine of course,because even if they had the same 200hp with the2 stroke firing every second stroke with the same hp it should make that much more difference.The power band is so forgiving on the Suter that is no doubt could considerably up the 200hp with a short band

I'm not jealous of a sport touring bike, my bike is build for speed and handling. I have no issues with Busas or ZX14, but it's just not what I perfer. Just like your don't prefer a 1000 over a Busa. Dude, that's Rickey Gadsen riding that ZX14. There's not a whole lot of Busa riders on the planet that can take him on a stock bike. Not saying the Busa isn't an awesome bike. It is, and it reigned supreme for years in the superbike field. But eventually, a challenger was going to come along that took the crown. Sooner or later, another bike will come along and take it from the ZX.
