thats one of the reasons its called the difference...aside from the fact that the main lyrics have ' the difference' in it and they both sound different the main theme behind the 2 songs are radically different as well...one is about wanting a love back that got away and the other one is a declaration of staying independent even tho there are feelings that would normally make one feel otherwise

Actually, if you really listen to the lyrics, its describing 2 different people who have the same problem of being lonely, But they have 2 different personalities, one a manipulative and angry. The other is just sad and is thinking about people he lost.
