We kind of thought you’d set the drums on fire and you’d do it once. Paul is literally, physically playing these drums while they’re blazing up. And then they’re like, “We need to do it again to get another shot.” We wound up doing it maybe four different times, and each time Paul’s getting redder and redder and he’s literally emanating heat from himself. The first time I heard this song, I was coming up from the basement with a basket full of clean laundry. Alexa had been playing Match Box 20 for me, all day. The song is a veiled compliment. It doesn't sound like he would change her even if he could. It seems pretty obvious that he likes her being wild and unpredictable and fun, even if things do get broken, and she can't be controlled by him. Look closely at what she is doing in the video, every time she breaks anything, the setting actually gets cooler. What would it matter if some shit that you would probably end up storing in your basement gets broken?
