KAYAK CAMPING! 2 Days in a Foldable Kayak on the Tennessee River! | 2022 Summer Road Trip - Ep. 4

I went kayak camping!! I packed all my stuff into a foldable kayak and spent two days living on the Tennessee River! Y'all, it was hot. As in melt your brain and question your whole existence hot. The crew and I loaded up our boats in Chattanooga after camping on a little island right in the heart of the city, and spent two whole days kayaking through the Tennessee River Gorge on the Tennessee River Blueway. We saw cows, amazing birds, people motor-boatin' around, and our own sweat pouring into our eyes! For this video I decided to try the Oru Inlet kayak, a super cool kayak that folds to the size of a suitcase! Is the Oru Inlet folding kayak a great kayak for kayak camping? Does the Tennessee summer heat and humidity melt us into oblivion? Do summer lightning storms threaten to end our kayak camping adventure early?! You know the drill - watch the video to see!!

Love the video! I have this kayak and have done 70+ short trips but never camping. I can’t imagine 7 hours in it, not the most comfortable haha! I know it was hot and the water looks pretty calm, but wearing a PFD is also basic kayak/boat safety, especially because the ORU won’t float on its own if it takes on a bunch of water. Loaded with gear and no float bags it would be pretty crummy if a “what if” did happen.

You made me tired paddling that thing! Besides a kayak that is not the best design for doing longer distances, to a paddle that looks to be a heavier one, to the over exaggerated strokes. You might want to try again with some better equipment and get some tips from experienced jayak campers.
