I really like that inflatable skiff. I'd keep an elec pump in my truck, and the portable pump on-board. I'd keep it in my garage, and on my trailer, or my kayak cart. And I'd go with a 6hp Suzuki. For a solo setup, with my storage, gear, and accessories. Awesome boat. 😎 🎣

If you left it sitting for too long, the gasoline turned into gunk, and it clogs your carburetor. The same thing happened to mine had to take the carburetor out and clean it then it started right up.

Nice video! I see the advantage, especially for carrying a 2nd person, but I'm not quite ready to trust my fishing platform to those air tubes. I actually looked into the really high-end air-filled dinghies (like yacht tenders) but those are off the chart price-wise! Also, I am wrestling with pickup bed carry vs trailer for my kayak. I want to make it physically more comfortable to launch, but having to care for a trailer (wheels, axle, lights, etc.) makes pickup truck bed carry a big advantage.

buddy i am SO ready for a 5hp electric. I think they are right around the corner. I took my brand new 5hp merc down to the river on saturday, got it warmed up, and ... didn't have it secured to the transom, dunked the whole thing. That wouldn't have been a big deal with my trolling motor, but this gas motor, i had to flush the oil and fuel systems back at home. 2.5hrs there, an hour of getting my motor off the riverbed, and then 2.5hrs driving home again...

There's electric outboards with significantly more horsepower than that. But the motor is roughly double the price of gas outboard. Then the big, heavy lithium batteries are about the same cost as motor. So over $5k for 6 hp electric outboard and battery.

@jimsomerville3924 that's what I mean when I say around the corner. The motors get expensive fast and then can't run wot for more than an hour or so, or have bulky batteries. Need more efficient motors and higher capacity batteries and we'll be there.

Alex I wish you would use your bully pulpit to rage against the counties disregard for those of who use that launch site. I met with the county officials three years ago and they promised to improve that ramp. The last time I was there I slipped and hyper extended my knee, thankfully I healed but the ramp is a disgrace race.
