Great kayak packing trip to Union Valley Reservoir with my buddy The Lost Anchovy. Kayak Packing quickly became my favorite way to camp. Car camping is cool but kayak packing is so much better. I will also be doing backpacking to High Sierras and do fishing in the near future. Stay tuned.

As a retired Forest Service employee I'd like to add a little clarity to the camp fires and permits issue. In a developed campground ( think steel campfire rings and usually a host) no campfire permit is required. In a dispersed campsite ( such as where Moo was camping) campfires are allowed with a permit. In a designated wilderness area ( such as the Desolation Wilderness near where Moo was camping) no campfires period.

Thank you for clarification. Yes, The Machine is correct. You can have campfire at the location where I was camping unless there is fire restriction that day. At the time of the filming there were no fire restrictions. I was simply confused 😂🤣.

What kind of kayak MooMoo? It looks like it glides effortlessly in calm water. Would you use that on Bodega Bay, or is pedal drive better there. I am shopping for a kayak. Leaning towards Hobie pa but expensive. Looking at all my options. Thanks great video

Gotta be careful at that lake with bears. I was there a month ago and our ice chest (that didn’t fit in the bear box) got broken into. Several other sites got broken into the three nights we were there as well. It came through our camp every night after stealing most of our food the first night. I think you were just on the side of the lake where the bears weren’t, but that lake is notorious for its bear population. Looks like a fun trip tho! I caught 22 in 3 days from my kayak.

Actually, I believe with a campire permit, you would be able to have a fire ring, charcoal fire etc so long as the forest service hasn't placed any fire restrictions.

You are correct. When I called the ranger station prior to going camping there, they told me no open fire is allowed but when I read the regulations after I came back, it is allowed unless there is a fire restriction.
