Kayak Tow Line. If you have a kayak, you need a kayak drag rope, pull rope or some may call it a tow line. I'm going to show you how to make a DIY kayak tow line. Something that will quickly attach and detach to your kayak. You should make a kayak rope and leave it in your kayak so it will always be there. They are very inexpensive to make. I make mine with about a 15' section of nylon rope and two oversize carabiners. My carabiners came from Walmart. A kayak rope will have so many uses. If you are kayaking and run into some very shallow water, you will be glad you have a kayak pull rope which would make it a lot easier to pull your kayak over gravel and rocks. It doesn't matter what type of kayak you have, get a pull rope just in case. I recommend putting a kayak tow line in your kayak rescue kit. It's best to be prepared, always.

That was great advice Steve. I definitely agree with you every kayak or canoe should have that. Soon as I got my kayak that was the first thing I did. And it works very well. As a matter of fact I have two broken feet right now from a truck accident and i went on a 10 mile kayak trip today. When I got to the boat ramp my wife's uncle went to his truck and got my wheelchair and brung it to me. My buddy put my kayak on my kayak cart and I hooked it to the back of my wheelchair and pulled my kayak out of the water in a wheelchair. can't get no better than that.

@@myadventureoutdoors thank you man I appreciate that yes I'm on my way again back to a full recovery. Just take it this time but I'm getting there. But I'm not letting it stop me from me having my fun. Just got one more surgery to go through which is my shoulder. Going to get my feet straight first and then do the shoulder next.

No joke... I have one on my canoe, tied on to the back.... I throw it out into the water and let it float around out there. If I tip over, I can catch up to the rope. Only had to use it once, but I’m sure glad it was there. It does come in handy for an anchor rope, and a tie-off rope too.... thanks for another pro tip!!!!

That's superior brain type stuff right there to drag a rope behind the canoe whilest drinking them tall boys floating down the river.

I ran a length of 1” tubular nylon webbing from the front lift handle. Acts as a stand-up assist strap, drag/tow strap, and a tie off strap on the water. With a fully loaded fishing yak, the 1” webbing is far more comfortable to grasp and doesn’t cut in to your hand.

Here in Canada, it's the law you have to have a throw bag with I think 50ft of floating rope in a kayak. PFD, bailer or bilge (unless it has bags or sealed bulkheads, whistle, light for nighttime (unless in a place where big boat traffic isn't a thing)

You forgot to mention that torch is for Alpha Males only, snowflakes watching cat videos from their moms basement should not handle such a device! In all seriousness, this is a great idea and yes everyone should have them. I like the carabiners you used, I just tied some loop knots into mine but I will be replacing them this year. I have had to tow my kids before and I'm glad I had the rope in the kayak with me.
