You almost had it man! Don’t get too down on that lost Hudd fish. Happens sometimes. Tail just got in the way of the hook. Jig hook will work. No need for a stinger but that Butch Brown rig might be a good option for you just because you’re on a kayak and it will help you keep it pinned while you’re netting it. You’re gonna get one soon. I guarantee it!

@cstar81163 жыл бұрын
He recommends against using a bottom stinger, but suggests a top treble/stinger instead. Top is less likely to get the fishes gills like a bottom singer is and will typically get roof of mouth.

Hey greg, lots of people say a good huddleston setup would be a 5 or 6 gear ratio 400 size reel, 8 foot rod with a 3-10 oz, and 25 pound fluorocarbon. My first big trout soft bait fish was a 2 pounder and yes, small ones will try and eat these big baits. The setup I use is a really old 400 shimano calcutta (4.9 gear ratio) with 25 pound fluorocarbon, and a Okuma Guide Select XH (2-10 oz). Edit: My setup is a more affordable combo: got a calcutta off ebay for 100, and the rod is 120. Guys who take swimbaits seriously, will have combos over $1000
