Kayley Woollacott: Lalor and bouncing back from personal tragedy

In January 2018, the racing world was left in complete shock at the death of Richard Woollacott, a rising jumps trainer who passed away aged just 40 after fighting against mental illness.
Wife Kayley Woollacott took over the licence at the stables in Rose Ash, South Molton, Devon, and with three-year-old daughter Bella has managed to cope and look forward thanks to a life with racehorses which the family has always loved.
"It's like trying to operate in fog - very thick, dark fog," says Wollacott. "The only thing I could really focus on is that every day I had to wake up to a little girl that expected some sort of happy life. I want her to remember life is worth living.
"She loves the horses, it's always been something weve done and I'm really lucky the owners have supported me and enabled me to continue what we've always done.
"People deal with things differently - for me, having that routine does pull you out."
In a poignant interview, Luke Harvey also gets the latest on dual-Grade 1 winner Lalor and a campaign over fences awaits...
"Richard bought Lalor himself, had so much faith in him and it's a dream we can continue showcasing what he bought and what he taught me."

Besides the mental aspects of her husband suicide the big lesson for Kayley here is to be faithful to your partner. If Kayley would not have cheated on her husband Richard he would probably be still be here. Now she has to raise her daughter on her own. Makes you wonder was the lust worth it!

Disgusting. Just like a manipulative and selfish women. Your husband killed himself after discovering you were having an affair and, after saying you would end it and try again, you continued to cheat on him. Your are a disgusting lady and deserve no pity. Shame on you for asking for pity while playing the role of the victim. Your actions are responsible, no one else's. I would say remember that but you've clearly forgotten because it doesn't matter to you in the way it would a normal person.

When Lalor retires, they can send him to me. He'll want for nothing. Setting aside the tragedy and ignoring the influences if we can, for a moment, that horse has Rights - he is entitled to be held in the highest regard and by his own merit. For those who loved Richard, this horse is vindication, were that needed, that he had vision.

Kayley and her lovely little girl Bella are an inspiration to all of us. Depression is a terrible illness and it this video shows that someone can have a beautiful wife, child and love their job, but still have demons inside. I hope and pray that Lalor stays fit and well and provides these 2 young ladies memories that will last forever. Lalor winning the Arkle would continue this dream partnership.
