Drinking lots of water saves half the problem... & Eating the right food. A lot of people be saying use this product and this and this and this.. Truth is it don't matter. As long as you massage your scalp and stretch your hair... you will see growth...but to maintain your length you sure have to keep your ends mosturised. Best when you include hair vitamins too. I've been a product junkie for years I've spent over thousands of dollars, Either way my hair still grew whether it smelt like The Pacific ocean, paradise, coconuts and melons "It still grew" with or without sillicones. with or without dimethicone etc (you get the drift) Just let your hair be and exercise. Less touching more adventure Xx & Nice Video 🌺

This was an excellent video, my favorite myth was the miosturizing your hair everyday, if that's not the most rediculous thing I've ever heard of. You would think a person would realize that if they have to re miosturize everyday, then something should click to let them know that they're moisturizer is obviously NOT doing its job and their hair ISN'T retaining moisture. That's also just way too much manipulation on the strands. Thank you so much for this, it was awesome. 😘
@KaylynIvy7 жыл бұрын
thank you!! i feel like all these myths floating around are really preventing people from getting healthy hair because they dont even realize that a lot of the stuff their doing isnt even benefitting and are signs of unhealthy hair... if i had to moisturize my hair every single day i'd be mad lmao thanks for watching Jamie!

Kaylyn thank you for busting the myth that natural hair is time consuming. I have spent at least 6 hours in a salon getting my relaxed hair done. And as far as being expensive, it is only as expensive as you want it to be.

Dareese Hinds my experience has been different. Natural hair for me is very time consuming anytime I do anything to my hair. Yes, I have spent hours in a hair salon, but managing my hair at home was easy. I could easily comb through my hair, put in pony tail, hot curl or any basic style with ease. But a basic hair style with my natural hair is so much time consuming and requires so much more attention.

Yes, yes, yes! I've never worn a "protective style". My hair retains length through proper care & knowing what products provide the best treatment for my specific hair type. I buy my products in bulk when they're on sale, so natural hair is very affordable for me. And thank you for mentioning the fact that there is no way to grow your hair *fast* & that those who make this claim have been growing their hair for years. I cringe when I see that in video titles. Genetics can also play a part. And I think hair typing can be a way of relating to someone with a similar texture so you can get tips that may help you as well. Good video.
@KaylynIvy7 жыл бұрын
thank you so muchhh!! and i definitely agree. i never do protective styles either. i just think wearing your hair out and being able to moisturize it and throw it back into a bun is probably the best and safest way to retain length and keep your hair healthy! no excessive pulling or tugging. and yes i completely agree that hair typing can be a way of relating to someone

@16:20 I have 3b/3c hair but for some reason found myself following mostly type 4 curlies in the beginning of my journey, so I looked around and found some type 3 curlies to follow. What I've learned is that curls are SO different! You have 4c folks who stretch their curls and type 3a folks who need to "train" their curls through finger coiling to get it to curl better! Wha?? I end up taking little tidbits of hair info that would also work for my curls from each person. It's been a blessing watching all the different types of curlies on KZbin because I've learned how different my curls are, and what works/doesn't. You are SO right about finding hair similar to yours on KZbin. I see comments in videos of people who are clearly not in the right place! Find videos with yo hair y'all! It pays off! I agree. I'm confused where the stigma came from. There is nothing wrong with hair typing if done correctly. I do believe a lot of viewers get confused because YT's can drench their hair with product and then say I have this curl pattern or show their hair wet and claim a curl pattern. My hair is wavy when wet but I don't have wavy hair. When it dries it's curly. YT's should show their hair in it's true natural state so viewers can make a better assement when trying to figure out their curl pattern because it does matter.

Hairveda Moist 24-7 is a great conditioner that can be used as a regular one and deep. Mix 3 parts with 1 part of their masque and its even better. Sometimes the masque alone can be too oily (and cost more)

I love ALL your videos!! A few quick questions...which deep conditioners do you like best right now? Also, do you use a high or low heat setting when you are deep conditioning? thank you so much for watching!! :) and i've tried a couple new ones that i really havent been too fond of. i still honestly favor all of the ones i mentioned in my favorites videos. shea moisture manuka honey, shea moisture 10 in 1 renewal system, joico intense hydrator and macadamia deep repair masque. and i use a high setting when i deep condition. my hooded dryer doesn't get that hot to where high is uncomfortable or burns but their are some that do. like my sisters bonnet dryer from the same brand gets SUPER hot so i use hers on medium heat. and i hope you see lots of growth in you growth process, Kathleen! consistency is KEY!

The main difference btw regular conditioner and deep conditioner is that deep conditioners tend to have oils that mimic our natural sebum oil as 1-3 different type of butters along with other natural products that helps condition your hair deeply. That is, products like marshmallow roots and other herbal ingredients that have a lot of health benefit for hair.

OMG thats right...I just learned that when my hair was shrinking in my twist out throughout the week, it was bc my hair was hella dry....
@hoosieraussis16 жыл бұрын
Mine shrinks throughout the week because of repeat exposure to moisture (showering, sweating, working out) causes the hair to continue to attempt to reach its naturally shrunken state relative to the day 1 twist-out which is stretched hair. I use the LCO method (plus a soft hold gel for styling) and my hair stays soft and moisturized all week long, just more shrunken.

@thebudgetholic7 жыл бұрын
KAYLYN IVY I think that some people say that silicones are bad because they are referring to them as being toxic. I’m not sure which ones exactly but some silicones when heated to a certain temperature release traces of formaldehyde... My sister is a 5 year breast cancer survivor and her oncologist told her to stop using deodorant with aluminum silicones in beauty products and to cut soy completely out of her diet to name a few so now we all shop for more natural clean hair products and make our own deodorant and no soy... But everyone cannot live life n fear if it works for some and not others then that’s what works... Keep doing what u doing cuz your hair is goals! Glad that I found your channel!

I will be 2 years natural this November. Im noticing that the back of my hair is not growing as fast as the rest of my hair. I started off doing sew ins and now i have switched to wigs so i can care for my hair on a daily and weekly basis. other than the satin pillow cases what could i be doing that won't let my hair grow? The back is stuck at the nape of my neck.
@SierralovvMakeup7 жыл бұрын
RaeAnna Speights be sure to use Jamaican black castor oil as I do. My back was very short and I tended to pick with it. The wigs are definitely going to help just make sure you wear a head cap under the wig with all your hair in it.
@KaylynIvy7 жыл бұрын
the back might be your more sensitive area (mine is my crown). the breakage could be due to that area just being drier than the other areas or because it might not be as strong so when you braided it up for sew ins it broke more easily. I'd say just show that area EXTRA love. when you apply products and deep conditioners make sure you apply extra to that area and be more gentle with the area when you deal with it (thats how i stopped breakage at my crown was just by giving it extra moisture than the other areas). try not to braid it up if you can. just keep it moisturized and never let it dry out.

Good video! I am simple when it comes to styling my hair. I do not like all the extra stuff on a regular. I will say that when my hair was relaxed I would put in back into a bun within 5 mins, no problem. Now, it takes too long to manipulate and then once it is in a bun it hurts my head, because I am no longer use to it. So, I end up going with another style or putting on a wig. Time consuming...yes it has been for me. I 'd rather do wash and go's and just use butterfly clips when I want it up but my hair is on some other level right now because I have not learned how to deal with my hair types yet. #trying #notgivingup

im pretty simple when it comes to styling too lol buns used to take me FOREVER but now that ive been natural for a while and i wear my natural hair everyday i can throw my hair in a sleek bun in like 5 mins but it used to take me like 30. but it's definitely a workout putting my hair in a bun. definitely not as easy when my hair was straight lol but just keep trying and stay at it! practice makes perfect! dont give up! :)

Hair typing doesn't matter. No two people have the same type of hair period. It's just a bunch of myths and stereotypes
@KaylynIvy7 жыл бұрын
yes in that sense, but i think its still better to build your regimen off of someone who's hair type is closer to yours than it is someone who has completely different hair than you. that doesn't mean you do every single thing that person does but it's a good place to start at and tweak your own regimen
@BklynBabe7 жыл бұрын
KAYLYN IVY I believe hair typing is helpful, but I think the Walker chart is an absolute fail. Knowing porosity, density, strand thickness, texture, those are much more important. When a person tells me they are 4 c, that literally tells me nothing about their hair, when they say they have thick hair with coarse strands, low porosity, wiry texture, and coils, that is a much better description for me.
@KaylynIvy7 жыл бұрын
yes i completely agree 100% ... when i said "hair type" i was actually more so referring to what you said rather than just curl pattern. because that chart is definitely completely off and people could have the same curl pattern but still have completely different hair. when i say "hair like yours" i really just mean in more aspects than just curl pattern lol
@KaylynIvy7 жыл бұрын
i actually wish i worded that in the video the way you just did because that was perfect!
