When he wasn’t getting chipped out double teamed he was making an impact lol. Washington also made it a point to run the ball away from him.

I just want to say his ankle injury in the first game of the year made a big impact on him. Apparently, he had the choice of shutting it down, but he got into rehab and came back for his team. Sometimes, we just don't know the full story. Anyways, Schoen and the Giants selected him and let's see how he does. He gets to face Henry week 1 and then Ickey week 2.

Thibodeaux and Romeo Okwara are gonna be a top 5 edge rush duo in the very near future.

he was quiet this game, but if you watch him against cal or washington st. you can see the shear dominance. incredible combination of speed and strength to get to the QB, amazing bend and get off. plays with great leverage and balance, he has almost no pass rush moves though. he relies too much on his speed and strength to get to the QB. also over pursuits a-lot in the run game, which is probably my biggest concern with him. very underrated versatility, can drop back in the coverage, play 3-tech, and shoot gaps up the middle extremely well. people are being too harsh on him and he should still be a top 3 pick.
@chrisdome50373 жыл бұрын
Chipped or doubled on most snaps and when he was in single coverage they either didn’t run the ball to his side or made a quick throw. Still applied pressure on the QB and got half a sack

I agree and not just being a homer. Maybe not as fast, but you can't teach the high energy. Very smart on the field too.

I didn't see anything special this game 🤷🏿♂️, he wasn't even getting doubled as much as people say and it looked like the tight end #83 was handling him when they were one on one, I didn't really see the motor going on every play, and it looked like he had the same pass rush move every time.. But hey it's just one game, I guess everybody has an off game every now and then
@misterceo21682 жыл бұрын
Bro the thing with Kayvon is he’s been called the number 1 pick since he was in high school. So that’s been drilled in everyone’s head for 3 years now. So with him it’s more so “why shouldn’t he be the top pick” versus “is he the top pick” I’ve watched a ton of Oregon games and he gets handled 1 on 1 most of the game. He do flash here n there but Hutchinson and Ojabo are more polished technicians when it comes to rushing the passer easily

I mean the tackles in the pac 12 this year are not the first round guys. How would Thibodeaux look playing in the SEC?
@stilgar20073 жыл бұрын
I am certainly a big armchair GM contrarian on this guy (to be honest, several of this draft class). Drew a lot of chips and doubles, but seemed to use them as an excuse to take the play off and didn't capitalize on the one-on-ones he did get. Lackadaisical in pursuit, missed a tackle on the TD, didn't show much ability or desire to shed... They were playcalling away from him some, but he also played from the left and right sides.
@briannewsome62083 жыл бұрын
i had the same thought. he certainly has the talent and makeup to go #1 overall, especially in a class with no transcendent QB talents, but you'd like to see him flash the constant motor guys like TJ Watt and other elite edge guys have even when the play isn't run to their side.
@brianodental16343 жыл бұрын
@@briannewsome6208 gonna have to agree with you. the perimeter players and OL are the tip talents in the draft to me this year
@bilalmallick84282 жыл бұрын
I agree with you that at times he didn't put it in full gear. Did miss a key tackle on the TD. I do think his ankle injury was more severe than let on. He actually is a really good spy linebacker and was at tmes asked to drop back in coverage. But no doubt in my mind one of the best players in this draft. Even with a bum ankle he forced an INT. Let's see how he does with the Giants.

depends on if he hits the juice or not. he has great potential but he's not a DE in my book. more of a von miller type of player

in 31 games he had 118 pressures and a pass rush win rate of 17.5%. The average is 9.8% but I'll just trust your eye test (also do guys who don't deserve hype draw double teams?)

Hutchinson had 2.5 sacks this year vs Washington. Kayvon had 0. Only reason he so hyped is people been saying he was gonna be the top pick since high school.
