Technically the bottom section of the ration should be eaten first and then you work your way up to the carrying handle as the day goes on, that way you still get to use the handle.

That menu brings back memories! Those are very Soviet menu items and I ate them regularly on my trips into the FSU. Once in Kazan, I was looking at signs in the train station and couldn't make out a single word. I eventually realized the words were Tatar (A Turkic language similar to Kazakh) rather than Russian. Another great video!

@@nonbiz1520 very little of m the iron you eat is absorbed. the liver collects and stores most until new red blood cells are made. given that im curious as to to your description of the pate, liver being the principal ingredient. the taste of the iron in liver(pate or not) is the reason most of those who dislike it do so. pate is inherently metallic. was this one particularly so, or was it just not to your liking? not being argumentative, Im just curious, all answers are correct.

I have to eat them all the time on army camps and I think they are amazing!!! they seem a lot better than what we actually get. we get bags that we put in boiling water for 5 minutes and eat how they are. you should try and get a British one! we do have mini stoves and tubs called mess tins too! you should see the drinks we get!!! all powder and add hot water. only the tea and coffee are drinkable... trust me your making this seem so much easier...

I think they are made intentionally salty. As you’ve pointed out, Kazakhstan has a very cold climate. As soldiers are most of the time outdoors they face such cold climate. I think one of the uses is so that get enough salt intake whilst they are conducting their rigorous ops, but also so their food has some taste. The aroma and flavour of foods tend to diminish the colder the temperature is, so the amount of salt put in is more to account for the ambient temperature of the place the food is consumed at. But because you ate it in the warmth and comfort of your home, it would definitely be too salty. Just my two cents (-:

The camera-to-translation app is a super rad idea, but it must still be in prototype phase because it was making very many mistakes. You said it is through Google Translate?
