3 weeks ago I finally decided to go to a KBBQ restaurant by myself, ate two portions of ssamgyupsal, rice, and a bottle of soju. The manager gave me his business carr and told me that I can give him a call even if there’s a lineup outside (its a popular kbbq place in dt vancouver so there’s usually a lineup) and he’d find a way to let me in.

One time me and my brother ate 5 kilos of beef at a kbbq. The waitress, who was previously dumbfounded by the amount we ate, laughed and walked over to turn off our grill when she saw the regret on our faces as we finished out food. We then went to the korean grocery store next door and ate ice cream to balance out the amount of oil we had then sat in the car for a good half hour, contemplating our life choices.

It is amazing how the same cut of meat(in this case pork butt) could be the same thing but be turned into so many dishes. Like here in america pork but is pulled pork and beacon and then in korea it can be made into korean bbq. that just shows that many cultures arent so different but at the same time so diverse in ingredients and what is created.

My fav part about korean food is mixing leftovers together like that hits diffrent like expecially with ramyeon like, once you finish slurping your ramyeon, you mix in day old rice, Kimchi, sausages/cut up fried chicken/pork belly, and top it off with some cheese and holy mozzerela it hits diffrent.

I like all food,I will try anything at least once. My favorite Asian dishes so far are banh mi and pho. The noodles are kinda unfair tho. I grew up poor and most meals were ramen and pb&j. I love going out for KBBQ, but I also make it at home for my room mates. I am just glad I can pick up all the banchan at the store. They even have really good quality ggaenip. I usually make a vinegar sauce with the gochujang and use ssamjang, too! Don't be nervous about going alone. There are places I have seen in vlogs that cater more to the solo bbq scene. However, with friends is always more fun.
