the mom seems to be incredibly soft spoken don' t know about the dad but that child is taking way too much adantage of the situation.... he doesn't even have regrets... this kids a good amount of discipline maybe the mandatory army system will straighten him up...

I don't remember his age, maybe it would be better since he's undecided about what to do next is to send him to do his mandatory service. Probably the army can make him more disciplined and at the same time, he can think of what he'd to do with his life while there. At the least, he's not wasting his mother's money fooling around.

Nothing in particuler needs to happen for someone to change like that. I'm only 15 but I can relate to his story a lot. I was a top student and was a good girl but suddenly I changed around for no obvious reason and started smoking and sneaking out etc.. Sometimes people just get sick of following the rules and being trapped in a box and just want to have fun with life while they are young. That choice may not be right at all but it does happen a lot more often than you think especially with kids with strict parents.
@maevebup
@maevebup 6 жыл бұрын
But I don't get it, like, yeah with strict parents who demanded everything this thing could happened, but from what I see, the mom is incredibly soft spoken, she love him so much that she give him everything, work hard for him, praise him every chance she get and her one wish for him was to get a diploma because she and her husband didn't have the chance to go to school and she didn't want him to ended up like that especially when she know his potential, a parent that just want her child to successes while giving him everything she got, like... it doesn't make senses for me, why would you acted up like that when you have a parent like her? Like forget the smoking part, he could smoke all he want but can he still try to get that diploma for her wish? like i'm trying really hard to understand because i've been depressed once in near my senior year in hs it got so heavy, i've begged my mom and dad not to send me back to my hs but i still want to go to another school and i have a bipolar tendency so sometime i feel like the world is a burden and i don't want to face it but i still feel like i own my parent everything, like Hoshi said, i can't understand why he would acted up this way when he's spoiled as spoiled as he can be by his mother? like even if he doesn't want to go to school, he shouldn't have quite the part time job and earn his own money

Don't let that discourage you. Let that motivate you to show them & most importantly show yourself that you're capable of what you put your mind to. Not to sound cliché but you are in charge of your future & many let their circumstances hold them back from doing great things. I think it's the people who have troublesome circumstances but choose to overcome them are truly successful & admirable. I know it's hard but just know you're not alone & you're capable of making a great future for yourself. When you feel discouraged do what I do... just think about all the obstacles you've overcome in your life & let that remind you that you can continue to fight. Also think about all the people who do care about you. Stay strong babes!

They shouldn't call him "useless" he needs encouragement to move on, continuing education is very important, he keeps on demanding so many things and not trying to find motivation, he also needs good friends who can be by his side, 😞, I know you can get your diploma! you got this! please stop asking for so many things and for relying on her so much for those things when you can focus on what's more important instead of looking at things only you want, hwaiting!

Actions must also have clear consequences. Sometimes you can't just do everything because someone says so, especially if you don't know what the true consequences are and the mom never enforces them. That leaves a kid who will constantly test boundaries and inconsistent parents. If you have only a few very clear rules and clear consequences life will be easier

Its wrong to assume he doesn't care and say he should be crying. Everyone deals and expresses their emotions differently. We don't know that he isn't hearing everything and internalizing it. Not everyone wear their heart on their sleeve. I know for me when I'm hurt I really don't show it, and when people are talking at me, I don't always process everything at the moment. Once I'm alone it plays over in my head, and it stays with me.I don't know if this is enough for his actions to change or that its heartbreaking, but I definitely think he has feelings/empathy toward what's been said.

Okay so I guess yeongja went overboard calling him ‘useless’ but she was outrage and I can understand her. Being a fan of seventeen, I can totally relate with Boo. He’s been a cry baby since then, during their debut project he cried so much after seeing his mom so you’d know how genuine his love is for his mom. And this guy is just... so frustrating. I know i’m not that good of a daughter to my mom, tbh these days i’ve been so insecure seeing idols with the same age as me or even younger succeed in their life and here i am, still have nothing to brag about myself. It’s so frustrating really. The first time that I found out that Seventeen’s maknae, dino, and I have the same age, NCT’s Lucas etc. I feel so upset like how can they be successful in that age and I’m not? My insecurity keeps on building up but I HAVE NEVER ACTED LIKE HER SON. I’ve witnessed how my mom suffer for the past 18 years and all her sacrifices for us. It’s frustrating to see a child acting like this to his parent who works hard to provide him his needs. I’m crying so hard bruh you need to grow up. I don’t even know you personally but I’m this frustrated, imagine how much more you’ve hurt your mom, and how frustrated she’ve been all this time. Please. Please reflect on your actions and try to live a better life. For yourself and for your parents. ☹️

This is relatable af. I'm the same age with Somi, I.N, Woojin and etc, and all I do is school then go straight home. It's just like that everyday. I can even count how many times I go out every year lmao. My dream is to be an idol, but how the heck can I be one if I don't even have the talent or visual 😂 I really envy those trainees or idols where in such a young age, they're already talented af. I'm even worse than a potato lol.
@sshdontdisturb

Cameron M yeah. I mean yeah I envy them cause they have achieved something with their young age but after watching a loooot of survival shows it didn’t cross my mind to dream of becoming one. Also, idols are more prone to sexual harrasments, although we all are idol or not, and their world is really a scary one. Cried a lot watching seventeen’s one fine day when they said that they’ve never been on a field trip cause they spent their youth under the basement as trainees. That is just so freaking sad ☹️
@astrochick6171

Cameron M This person is what... 16 or 17. To them it may look glamorous but they're not really seeing the other side of it. I just turned 20 so I'm not much older & I'm not saying it's only kids who get caught up in the "glamorous life" front that lots of celebs & idols have to put on. But kids are more vulnerable to these "illusions" of the entertainment industry. This person is saying they don't have the talent or visual, so if you're not really passionate about singing or dancing... or at least improving then why do you want to be an idol? Their motives may likely be for the pleasures of fame & even material gain. I didn't say this was a fact though. Even at some point I thought it would be cool to be up on stage singing my little heart out & dancing like MJ. Never wanted to actually do it but I thought it would be cool. And I still love dancing. So I can kinda relate to them, and just know none of this is meant to come off rude but I'm genuinely advising that they question their motives & the possible outcomes of becoming an idol. I think it's important to do that when making any big decision, so it doesn't just apply to the idol thing. To the person who commented about being an idol, I'm not trying to discourage you or your dream but please just put lots of thought & research into your decisions. Whatever you do I hope you succeed. 😊

He is useless right now. In life you work. When you’re young, your job is school. He has no motivation, smokes, squanders money that’s not his own, cheats people out of their own money... he would have been in juvenile detention and on probation for some of the stuff he’s done. He needs some real world responsibilities to open his eyes real quick as to how good he had it when he just did the one job required of him- go to school, do the work, graduate. I see this with my clients all the time. Now they’re in their 20s and 30s with nothing to show regretting the past.

boo seoksoon don't feel insecure with where you are right now in your life because you cannot compare yourself from an entirely separate person to who you are so keep you head up and find out your dream, idk what grade you are in but I'm a senior in high school I didn't find out what my dream was until my junior year really late huh and I wasn't like the other kids at my school who knew what they wanted to do from the get go and even though it took me a long time to find my dream and goal to life I got accepted to my community college and picked my transfer school and I'm proud of that it isn't much but it's something of mine that can be shown off with pride

How is this not a concern? The son showed no remorse, no understanding of what his mom is feeling. So how can things get better from here? Even the letter he wrote is just basically a list of thing he wants. Money is seriously the root of all evil. Because of money, he thinks his mom is in the wrong. Dude at your age my mom would have never allowed me to move out without a proper job, and I would respect her decision because I know if I screw up and not able to pay rent or have no money for basic necessities I would end up being a burden to her. People move out to be independent not a burden. He seriously needs to grow up. And whatever grudge you may have against your parents it's still not right for you to behave the way you do. I hope the friends you hang out with sees the show and help you wake up your idea. This is truly one of those times that I disagree with a guest saying it's not a concern. Urgh. For the first time i am proud to read so many grown up, full of common sense comments. I swear i my blood boils in anger everytime i read comments from girls like "Oh, but he's so cute and handsome, i will forgive him anything hihi!" and this is why many korean kids become superficial, lazy and arrogant, they grow up being fed with "only looks and money are important in life", this is a well known problem in korea and kids like these, with no values, goals in life and respect for their elders, get away with shit that easy....Dont encourage them, even if they are good looking they also have responsibilities in life, therefore they need to learn tough lessons in life.

I just finished to watch this and I still crying but I have to write here. I’m so touched after listening to Seungkwan’s word. He and I have the same age and I can’t call myself a seventeen fan yet because I just started to listen to them this year but I can feel deep connection with him. I read in a comment that he used to cry just to his mom and I’m like this. Two years ago I got approved in a famous university here in Brazil but last year I decided to quit my studies to follow my real dream. It was and still being really hard to my parents specially to my mom, but I want to do my best this year to get in the university next year so I can make her proud of me again and don’t be so sad. I hope this guy find his dream. Some people find their way before but other people take a longer time but I’m sure he’ll find. But I hope he can notice how hard his mom is working to give everything to him. Asian moms might not to say a lot or show their feelings but they show their love by doing things. My mom don’t say things like “I love you” or kiss or hug me spontaneously but she gives me everything I need, she gives more than I deserve. Hope you can make your mom smile❤️

Hoshi and his legendary pre-debut schooling story hahah and there's no way no one wouldn't tear after listening to Seungkwan. As much as encouragement towards this boy, I think he is old enough to think for himself and his parents. His case is a little different from the rest in the sense that he is just still living in his own bubble, being immature towards life (while others usually come with some sort of an incident). He is... essentially selfish and I hope things would change. HE needs to change.

When I watch something that’s about mothers, I instantly think of my mum and realise how much she does for me, how much she sacrificed for my sisters. Makes me realise I need to appreciate my mum and love her, as she and my father was the one who took care of me, treated me with love and like a princess. My mum, cared me for 9 months in the womb and could have been careless, but she didn’t and I will forever sacrifice everything for my parents. Oh boy, you'll regret everything after 5 years. I used to be like that, my grade was good in Elementary and Middle school but in High school I skipped classes a lot and didn't even attend for 3 days straight though my dad sent me to school every day and went to market for buying our shop supplies. After dropping out from college bc my parents got separated and my mom couldn't afford to pay my college tuition I had to work to help the income. If only I work harder for my highschool and get a good grade I could've gone for college schoolarship test and got a degree. My parents wouldn't have to pay much for my education and I might have gotten a good job nowadays. I know it seems real fun to loose yourself and doing whatever you want bc you're still young and yet to enter adulthood, but believe me you'll regret it after you became an adult.

To the guy beside Dongyeop, how is this not a concern? He was doing very well until he changed. Even if i'm tired and being a lazy ass just by going to school, i can't skip my classes. I can't imagine myself being expelled from my current school. And also, your mom had been really really stressed about her works at the same time, your attitudes. One day, your mom disappeared, you'll realize om that day that your mom is important. Our baby boo crying.... You gave some wise and inspiring words, seungkwan.

Kim Sai Finally a comment about it. Many called him in the comments a brat and that he is ungrateful. But there have to be reasons why he is acting like that. I think he is afraid of his mother, that‘s why he might not want to live with her anymore. The mother showed herself as the victim but I don‘t think that she has told the whole truth. I just hope that he will live a good life and he should really continue school. He will have troubles living well off if you doesn‘t finish his school.

Being useless is a fact, when he's not at school and not working, living off his parents hard-earned money, while demanding money and things to have fun in life. Being useless is when you're not doing your responsibility right without inconveniencing others or becoming a parasite. He's done crime too by selling goods, but not sending the items after receiving the money. Him being useless is not a name-calling, it's a fact.

He mentioned in the video that he would like to talk to his mother about stuff but they always end up arguing about money, seems like his mum is so upset about having to spend money on him but throws money at whatever problem he actually has. I'd rather spend that money on a counselor, especially seeing how he has anger issues after breaking a vase on his teacher's desk.

The thing I'm most afraid of, is when he realized everything and mom is not there anymore... How can he pay her back? How can he give her assurance that he already know his path in life and she doesn't need to worry? Just like what happened to Kobe Bryant, a person's life can end in an instant and in an unexpected way. Hope things won't be too late for him.

25:15 seeing Hoshi and Seungkwan there listening to him and being so quiet makes me keep thinking of that. They debuted at such a young age, gave up so much of their lives to accomplish that, and as a fan I've seen how hard it was, how much they gave of themselves (Seungkwan moved from Jeju, that is on the other side of the country while he was a teenager!), so I really despise this kid. It's okay if he doesn't want to go to college, but that's not excuse for not doing anything in life. And he wants to tattoo just because it looks "cool"? With that mindset he won't get far from where he is already. Honestly, it baffles me how calm Seungkwan and Hoshi are, because they did so much just to be where they are now, and this guy is there saying he wants to enjoy his last underage year. Does he think things will magically change when he's an adult? Even I, who gave up barely nothing compared to Seungkwan and Hoshi, am fuming with rage. I didn't like highschool, but I did my best to finally be able to follow what I wanted to do. Life is about sacrifices.

This is a shared responsibility between the mother and her son. As a parent you don't give your child everything he demands for. You need to let him know that the good things in life comes through hard work. This boy doesn't know this because if he did he wouldn't have written a letter to demand for things that are unnecessary. If you are facing financial difficulties in your home I'd advice parents to start discussing it with their children; not to put a burden on them but to let them realize that certain things have to be cut down and they can't get everything they want. You really cannot bring up a child by giving him everything and then you stop halfway; he will rebel against you. The child will never understand no matter how hard you want them too because to them there is always money in the bank. As for the son, he needs to put himself together. I won't call him lazy because he isn't, he just lacks motivation. He needs to be taught compassion for his parents. He needs to be taught how to be responsible and take up responsibility on his own life. He needs to trust himself and push himself and keep his promises to his mother alive. He needs to learn how to respect his mother because you only get to have one mother. He needs to move back home and stop with the internet cafes. This part is going to be hard because once you gain freedom from your parents rules going back is like living in bondage. I don't think the son even realizes how harsh the Korean society is with school dropouts. In all of this I feel for the mother. She is so soft-spoken and has to care for three people plus herself. This isn't easy plus her husband who recently had a back surgery and then you have to deal with a rebellious teenager. I pray the skies give her the strength to overcome and the boy changes. You don't want to live the rest of your life knowing you were a burden to your parents and you gave them a tough time. Set plans and goals and discipline yourself to reach them. You will need help on the way so ask for help. Look at the life your parents are living and ask yourself if you want to be like them or you want a better life. Most parents don't discuss how they feel but make it a duty as their child to ask them how they feel. It goes a really long way to help them with that just to stay sane in this messed up planet. Our parents have done so much and they keep doing so much so RESPECT is the one thing you can give to them and TRUST and ASSURANCE is all that they need to see in you so that they don't worry that you'll be lost in the world when they finally depart.

24:37 PREACH. You can't just be doing things that you wanna do, there are things you gotta get done even if you don't like it. If your mother has to work full time doing something she doesn't like in order to support you, then what makes you think you can only occasionally work part time and ask for so much as if she's obligated to spoil you.... You're 19 already too geeeeez

When I found out SVT (Seungkwan specifically) would be on the show I know he would cry about something at some point 😂 When they introduced this story I knew this is the one he would cry about. Anything related to his parents, especially his mom makes him emotional. They've probably had a lot of hardships but he loves her so much & sets such a great example for other young men such as this kid. This kid (I say "kid" as if he's not my age) needs a rude awakening. The bible says "money is the root of all evil" & it warns about being materialistic. And that's obviously where his problem lies. He places such a high value on these perishable things to the point that he's taken for granted the important things like his relationship with his loved ones & his education/career. I feel bad for the mom but she needs to stop spoiling him bc that's his problem. Also, I hate being grouped with my generation bc most people my age are idiots with no focus. I live with my mom but I have a job, I buy almost everything for my mom now even though she works, I bought my own car with no car payments without help. I just turned 20 but I have so many goals that I am working towards yet I am treated like can idiot at work bc I happen to be the youngest there. I'm always grouped with others my age who only drink & smoke & spend every waking second on social media trying to impress people who don't even like them with things that have no real value. It's sucks to say but this kind of story isn't uncommon. I know I just ranted but I can relate to Seungkwan. I see my mom working hard. Everyday she comes home with swollen feet. I appreciate all she does for me so it hurts to know that the mom is working so hard for her son & he's being so selfish & irresponsible. I think all of us youths can reflect on ourselves after seeing situations like this. I know I'm headed in the right direction but I have a lot to improve on in many areas of life. I hope the son can keep his promise & improve on himself as well.

I find this thing about allowance so weird. when I was younger, we didn’t do allowance, only some around me got allowance, though it wasn’t a lot either. if you want something, you need to save up for it with money you get for your birthday or selling old toys. sometimes we struck a deal to wash the car or paint the fence for some money, but normal household chores were not allowance worthy. and it’s not like we are poor or anything. I feel like if you give allowance, you need to also teach your kid the worth of it, not just in regard to what you can buy, but also what it takes to earn that money
