This one of those family focused Korean dramas with many secrets and unexpected relationships. I used to watch them ten years ago after I retired but the Chinese dramas took over my KZbin. Korean dramas often depict men crying while Chinese dramas very rarely do if ever.

wow, everyone here is commenting about how the lead is a crybaby and clumsy and badly dressed.....she has become a mother for the first time, of course she will be clumsy, tensed and if the baby goes missing, can u imagine the pain that a mother goes through? she wants to live a better life with the baby, the lead is a little inexperienced- agreed but she has done a wonderful job. no offense.

The relationship of the male lead's step mom and his father can't be love! She still calls him "sir" and "President Cheon"? And it sounds like she has waaaaay too much "respect" for him....almost like father/ daughter rather than husband / wife. And the age gap! He looks older than dirt, and needs a new hair stylist! And there she is with her leather blouse (which is gorgeous...I want one)....living the good life and wasting her education. No wonder her mother is unhappy with her!

Well, it's obvious that Areum is not close to her mother At All. She went to the states, was pregnant for 9 months, gave birth a few months ago, and her mother has no idea? In the last episode, her mother said to her brother "I haven't heard from Areum for awhile..." Really, awhile? A year is awhile? Even if you aren't close with your mother, aren't you going to tell her your situation and beg her to help you? My mother would KILL me if I were didn't tell her what was going on in my life. And if I didn't call her, she would be at my door. So, now she is in the Seoul, hasn't seen her mom yet, and is telling her aunt: "Don't tell my mother". Nope, they aren't close at all.

I agree. From what I have seen of the mother she seems to be very liberal when it comes to those sort of situations. As for the mother going to visit her daughter, the mother wanted to go but the father was like... "Be real, I work for the government and we have a reputation to uphold and blah blah blah... we can't do anything that the people will turn their nose up at." so visiting your one and only daughter is a bad thing now? Yep so I agree with her not being close to her mother.... or maybe she just assumes because in Korean culture it's considered taboo for a women to have a baby out of wedlock. (at least it use to...off topic do you know when I first started watching Korean dramas back in 1994, the main characters wouldn't even hold hands or hug.... It was very hard to know who was in a relationship and who was not... now they show people kissing and in bed... times have changed... people are becoming more accepting.) she just assumes her mother is going to disown her.

Robyn Redmond Wow, you are really in the know about Korean dramas if you have been watching them that long!! The drama called TwoMothers which just ended was the first one I have watched from beginning to end. I caught a single episode here and there of other shows, but never continued. I think the character of the mother of Areum in this drama is really disturbing. What a terrible thing for a 24 year old daughter to believe that her mother would disown her if she made a mistake and had a baby with no marriage. Even if it turns out that Areum was wrong, and the mother accepts her baby, it is still too sad that the daughter would believe for a second that her mom would turn her back.

8journey8 Areum isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. When she lied to the guy at the police station saying she was Tiffany's babysitter, and then having her Aunt lie for her.... I was yelling "why don't you just come out and tell the truth you can't hide your baby forever, they are going to find out.... just tell them and get it over with." I made a bit of a typo I think... It was 1996 not 1994 when I started watching them full on... my first full drama was called "First Love" with Bae Yong Jun. I had watched some historical dramas before, but never all the way through... my first was Emperor Wang Gun.... that was 200 episodes and so worth it. I got my mom hooked on them. We like them better then most American dramas.

Robyn Redmond i watched korean dramas from that time too. Me and my parents love "First Love", "Son and Daughter" and historical dramas we prefer "Dae Jang Geum", "Jumong", "Hur Joon". I never forget "The last match", "Star in my heart"

Uyen Nguyen I love all those. One of my favorite historical drama is "Dae Jang Geum" such a great story. I also love "Save the Last Dance for Me" with Eugene and Ji Sung and Autumn in my heart with Song Hye Gyo and Song Sung Heun. Favorites from the 90's include " Because I really" with Ha Hee Ra and Lee Jae Ryong "Tender Hearts" with Bae Jong Ok and Kim Ho Jin "A Bluebird has it" with Lee Sang In and Jung Sun Kyung. Also I fell in love with Historical dramas mainly for the costumes well mostly the gowns of the Queens and Princesses and noble women.... I love the costumes of the Three Kingdom era (Goguryo, Baekjae, and Silla) as well as Goryo Dynasty, and Joseon dynasty.

Have you ever held a baby? Babies throw up if not burped properly or if they have gas troubles. Some babies just throw up for no reason because they can't control their muscles. Therefore wearing good clothes when holding a baby is inadvisable.

if you watch enough korean dramas it starts being normal...i think it's because of korean culture where the man is placed at the hierarchy of the household while the women are at the bottom...there also seems to be a strict level of respect in korean culture that i've noticed. Anyways the wives characteristics in korean dramas don't surprise me anymore

Okay, I get that they needed a reason to have him end up with her baby, but this whole thing is a little silly. If they suspected her of trying to traffic drugs, she and her bag would have never been allowed to leave the US in the first place. Besides, experienced police and TSA agents can spot the difference between baby formula and illicit drugs. However, even if there was a chance they weren't sure (and there wasn't a drug sniffing dog around for detection), there are rapid strip tests nowadays that can quickly identify if something is a drug or not. It might not indicate what kind of drug, but it would positively hit for a drug if it is one.

+tarheel715 Well it does happen especially come from the US. I guess they don't think we do a through job. Anyone in the airport can tag you to have you luggage looked at of take you for additional questioning. They pull over a few people. They probably spotted it when it went through the baggage check it and was told to look into it. They always question you first for a statement to trip you up if it doesn't turn out to be baby formula. Korea is very strict when it comes to even prescription drugs that are approved in the US, yet are considered narcotics.

I don't like how this main character is starting out. She's supposed to be the "smart" daughter sent to school overseas, yet she is acting all stupid by being clumsy, unprepared and most foolishly of all things, leaving her baby with a stranger! For a fashion designer, she has no fashion sense and poise that goes with it. And now she's denying the baby is hers out of fear that she might work for that asshole of a guy's company that's on its way to closing down? I want to strangle her already. What a plot. They ended Two Mothers for this?!

Kristin Morgan Nope, I'm talking about that sweater she wore at the end of the episode. She wore a blue & white checked blouse, and a cable knit vest over that and that plain gray sweater over that. It just looked uninspired for a fashion designer. Even if she wears plain clothes, I would expect an accessory or something to be added to zazz it up, you know? Even designers make fashion mistakes sometimes, but it shouldn't be this obvious. A designer should have developed some kind of personal fashion statement by the time she is in competitions. I agree with you that Korean fashion is cutting edge in the real world. Their designs are amazing. Even the sweater you're talking about didn't suit her. It hung as loose as a horse blanket with no belt! I couldn't pay attention to the cashmere accents because of the way it hung on her!

Just because the clothes are expensive doesn't mean they are stylish. You can spend a lot of money on a ugly outfit. I'm sure they are going to do the thing where she gets a makeover and suddenly becomes super stylish after she's done being a doormat. Drama writers like to stick to a formula, even if they write a character that doesn't fit into tropes.
