why is the cascara in either 2;3 or 3;2?its not a son or rumba clave. so wheres the 3 and 2 in each bar of the shell pattern?(this is the part that confuses me)

1 2 3& &1 2& & &1 cascara pattern is 2:3. The "2 3" of the first bar of the cascara syncs up with the 2 side of the clave. This works for either rumba or son. When the cascara starts with 1 2& & &1, it syncs up with the 3 side of the clave. The "1 2&" works with either rumba or son. The bomba of the son is between strokes of the cascara. The last beat of the rumba clave syncs up with the cascara.

did you do the two - handed cascara video? i' d like to see it please...
@kckel697 жыл бұрын
I will try and do another video soon. But it's very easy. Play all of the cascara pattern with one hand, and all of the fill ins with the other hand. RLRL RRLR RLRR LRLR if you're a right-handed player. Hope this helps.

where does the bass drum come in?
@kckel697 жыл бұрын
Typically the kick is on the "and" of two and on beat four

thanks.I'll try it this way. I have been playing the pattern 0ne and ah 2 and ah etc.

Typically there's no kick on "one" in Afro-Cuban music. It takes some getting used to, but focusing on the bass tumbao which is the same as the "and" of two and four on the kick will help.
