Keep practicing! After a few sets you start getting the hang of things and they start turning out really cute! Some things I’ve learned that I wish I knew when I first started dip powder… during application you want to try to be as neat as possible so you don’t spend 2+ hours filing them. Using a toothpick/pointy stick to draw around your cuticles right after each layer really helps keep your manicure looking clean! And don’t be afraid to file! If you think the layer is too thin you can add an extra color layer or clear to make sure you can file them as smooth as possible. I find 180 grit is the best for a smooth nail

Thanks for the tips! I was afraid to buff the surface of my nails after dipping at first but quickly learned that they look way too thick if not buffed plus lumpy on certain spots.

I do have it on my list of videos to make, but it’s not a priority for me at the moment unfortunately.. you would just repeat this exact process every time you need a “fill” until your nails grow out to the length you want! Do make sure to file off all the lifting, if it’s too much you can soak them off and re-apply more dip powder!

Love these. I just did a black set and it left scratches on the color. Can anyone tell me how to properly file the colored dip nails? Everytime I file it leaves little scratches and I've already tried dipping in in clear powder twice before I file..... also it's mainly with black, purple, & hot pink
@Katemarienailz3 жыл бұрын
I have had this happen before, I believe it Might be from using a file that is too low in grit. Try removing the bulk of the “unevenness” with a file around 180 grit or less. Then finish by smoothing over the surface with a buffer or a file around 200 grit or more. It may also help if you play around with the topcoat you finish with!

I thought about using a gel top coat after the activator process but was told it would peel/ doesn't mix well with dip powder liquids. 🤔
@Katemarienailz4 ай бұрын
@@TheCutiepatutie23 you totally can! Either skip the second activator step, or make sure to wipe it off VERY well with a lint free wipe. The main thing about gel on dip, is using the right grit file, or the gel will peel or chip. It needs to be 180g or lower when shaping the dip powder
@Katemarienailz4 ай бұрын
@@TheCutiepatutie23 if you use a buffer or higher than 180 grit when shaping, your gel won’t adhere well which will cause peeling and chipping. You may have to play around with the grit as well if you still notice peeling at 180. There are 150 grit files which should be a tad better. Using 80 might not give you a smooth gel application since it’s so rough tho lol

Hello Do anyone know how to get a complete split fingernail in the middle to the root of the beginning of the fingernail again grown together, it was extrem painfull and I have tried super glue and many other things and ever time it splits and nothing helpef, I have cut it really short the hole time and filled it very smooth that nothing catches but it's extremely stressful for me anytime to live with it that I could catch anything on the fingernail and ripp it off. 😥

@Katemarienailz2 жыл бұрын
For full dip powder removal, you do want to file off at least the top coat, then soak your nails in acetone! After 10-15 minutes scrape off the top layer that should be goopy, and then repeat until you have no product left!

I bought a cheap sns kit a bit ago… the sns got very chunky, idk if irs because the sns powder is very cheap? Or
@Katemarienailz2 жыл бұрын
It got chunky on the nail during the application? Or the powder itself? If you’re having any issues with the nails “clumping” up or getting chunky, it may be the way you’re applying it. Sometimes this can look like a rippling waves along your nail. If this is the case, try applying thinner layers of the base (nail resin). Typically the ripple affect happens when you push down too hard on the nail while dipping, so you can also try pouring the powder over instead of dipping it in. This can also happen because the dry time of the dip liquid, I personally prefer fast drying liquid’s because I’ve found I’m less likely to experience wrinkles since I’m very impatient 🤣 but some brands have liquids that dry slow If your nail is just turning out very thick looking, try fewer layers of dip (typically it’s 2 for color coverage) or thinner layers of the dip liquid. You can typically fix this issue with filing and shaping. I have had sns used on me from salons, I was un-knowledgeable back then but I never seen them experience issues with the application of it. tho, I’ve never tried that brand on myself.

How long does the process of filing off the previous colour take?
@Katemarienailz Жыл бұрын
It depends on a few things: 1.) How thick your nails are 2.) what speed you’re filing at & the pressure used 3.) what drill bit you’re using and how many times it’s been used previously (yes! You should replace your bits every once in a while because they dull over time) But on average I would say maybe 5-10 minutes per hand? (Ish, I never exactly time myself lol)

Reverse is typically for left handed people! However, I’ve heard some drill bits being specific to the rotation before.. (somewhat rare maybe..).. so if your drill bit isn’t working in reverse, it’s probably related to the direction the drill is spinning.
