The real Mistral passes through the Rhône Valley. It is a natural gorge between the Massif Central in central France and the Alps (Rhone Alps) to the east. With a certain wind direction in the gorge, the excelerating wind is sent from north to south across Provence and the Camarque to the Mediterranean. In winter, it can be a freezing wind that makes even Provence freezing cold. In summer, if you bike south and you're in the middle of it, you can easily reach 50 km/h.

Great video guys! Something to consider, the yacht cost $600k to rent. That amount does not include provisioning, fuel, marina fees, and any other incidentals- also don’t forget the 15-20% crew gratuity. So by the time you are done, you are probably talking a total cost of $1 million. I have hit golf balls off the back off 😂my friends boat, but we never had to retrieve them as they were made out of fish food. I hate to say this, but the marina fees are going to be going nowhere but up- there has been such consolidation of marinas ownership worldwide. I know by m all the former family owned marinas were all bought up by a huge corporate entity.
@aaronwilcox64175 ай бұрын
Exactly. If your actually using a yacht a good deal and/or putting it up for charter part time as owner it can be better to purchase. If your an infrequent user and go in as a group then it's best to share the cost of a charter.

You know guys, this sudden wind happened to us more in the Balearics and Western Med, but not so much in the Ioanian. This is why we are hesitant to go to Sardinia again, they get crazy storms! Plus, let's be honest, Italian sailors definitely have a different sense of personal space when anchoring... Plus every family has a small motor boat that swarm anchorages during the day, making it super hard to find a spot and relax once at anchor... It's a shame as we LOVE Italy.

@@KristinasTravels Top tips. 1) Don't rely on a desalinator. 2) keep small water bottles filled and stored. Water tanks can become toxic by pollution/salt fast/leak etc(all eggs in one basket). 3) Bad teeth/tooth can become a cardiac emergency fast. 4) Snap rolls on catamarans, too many assume a cat will never heel. When they do, dislocated arms/broken limbs. Have a grab bag and full water bottle. Loose sole boards make people abandon the boat in heavy seas. Wood boards flying around are bone breakers. Have your name on a vessel. Only use an EPIRB with GPS built in. Up to 8 hour detection time difference if you don't. dont have the safety tether lines going all the way to the transom. Have lifting gear ready so the weakest person can lift the biggest out of the water and onto the deck. Never allow a sole person on deck without being tethered. (People go for a pee and fall over the side. No one knows. Don't be scared to crawl on the deck if windy. Keep your EpIRB in the grab bag and not mounted onto the yacht (Like most of us do) Plot long voyages onto paper. Good skill and useful when all fails.(Fine print on some insurance policies, Including mine... says paper charts must be available) Use a blanket or sheet to move an injured person. Roll them onto it and drag. Think what are we trying to achieve and dont try and use lessons in a first aid class. Have a plan as to how people can be moved if injured. For example, If i am injured whilst in my engine room, a line is attached to my ankles and the crew hoist me out. Sounds bad, but now people can do SPR or whatever once i am on flat ground. I have it written as an instruction so no one can be blamed if they drag me out. Just a few common ones. :)
