Giannis has looked like the best player in the world this season (which is why I think he deserves MVP) stats aside. KD just looks like the best scorer and has not quite looked like the defender he was on GS, but that could just be a product of being on a bad defensive team. Hyped for these playoffs. East is going to be a bloodbath.

I think you can make the argument that Jokic has looked like the best player out there this year. Both Giannis and Jokic are very unique players. Nobody plays like Giannis and nobody plays like Jokic. They do certain things that are normally seen only in smaller players, like Giannis with his handles and driving ability combined with his length and height. Or Jokic with his passing; his size gives him lanes unavailable to players with guard size. But Jokic passes better than pretty much any player in the league period and on top he's 7 foot. I think either would make a good MVP, they both are above everyone else, including Embiid. If he wins over Giannis and Joker it is just because the voters want to give it to someone new.

I think it goes back to what Nick Wright said the other day - and I've said it too. KD never had the chance to be the best player. He's the best offensive player, but players are on for defense, rebounding, and playmaking too. Lebron was the best until he left for LA, then he had to pick and choose when to play hard on D. Then you had a group of Lebron, Steph, KD, and Kawhii if he could have stayed healthy/no be load managed. Now you have Giannis who is elite in scoring, rebounding, defense, and playmaking for a PF/C.

Hearing KD talk ball is pretty cool. It's never about himself. He doesn't self-compare with his peers, even with how good he is. He gave Lebron some shine while also addressing the up-and-coming studs of the game, Booker, Embid, Giannis. It's real recognizing real from arguably the best playing, and maybe of a generation, depending on your opinion. Mike and Mamba would straight up tell you to your face, eye contact and all, "I'm better than you and I'm going to beat you." Lebron is humble enough to not say it directly, and certainly not this year. KD don't talk trash, he just beats you, and sometimes, really badly. He doesn't say names, except the one that matters, I'm KD, "You know who I am."
