Very cool, Chris. That was one TALL fire tower. Nice CW and the hot tent was sweet! Glad to see you enjoying the KX2 and nice of you to honor its prior owner. 73 es CU-- dit dit

This was a shorter 1 point summit. I absolutely love the stove, but I think it’s more ideal for a POTA or SOTA 2 points and under. Thanks for the QSO today Eric!

Congratulations and great work with the KX2! I enjoyed your operation so much. Thank you for sharing it with everyone. That rig is certainly a step up from the SW-B. All of the KX2's controls gave you the ability to pick up a few of those S2S stations. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!

I have never played with a KX2. I did have a K2 long ago and miss it dearly, but it wasn't a portable rig for SOTA or POTA. I haven't ordered my Venus SW-3B yI et but have my QRP battery setup now at least for POTA. I use your videos and that of Thomas for CW practice, just listening while I am doing my morning celery juice is bringing back those old brain cells that got very dusty. Lots of emotion there. Since I am in FL I bet there are a few estate sales each winter. I bought a ticket for Hamcation, my first Hamfest or Convention in 35 years, LOL. 72, Dave - KU9L

I too use Thomas’s videos to learn CW! Very nice guy too. Always takes the time to respond to questions. I really enjoy his QRPer field reports. the SW-3B is truly an awesome little rig. I love it. Good luck on those estate sales and enjoy the Hamcation! 72!

KX2 looks great and also warm in the hot tent. I had to turn off full QSK on my KX3 as it was driving me nutz. Just too many stations trying to call when I was sending and it was screwing me up.

I did not get into your log. I found you on 20m and could just about tell you were there. not enuf to copy you when you came bcak to me so did not try. and take away someone else's chance. great to hear you work my buddy Pete. Thanks for the video Chris, I also recently picked a used KX2 and have been learning how to use it in the back yard. Can't wait to do a SOTA/POTA activation with it. Just curious what antenna did you deploy, linked dipole? 73 de Noel W2MSA

Thank you for checking out the channel Ray. Congratulations on your KX2! I use probably 20% of what it is capable of. If that’s all I ever use, I’m ok with that. In this video I am using the Packtenna 20/40 efhw. A phenomenal antenna. I have been fortunate enough to have met some great HAMs. I have personally fallen for the K6ARK qrp efrw and also the Tufteln efrw. All are great options for SOTA. During the hike you won’t know they are there (virtually weigh nothing). During the activation, you’ll get plenty of DX (2-5watts, inverted V config). I am not a very experienced operator. But I know what I know. More importantly, I am aware that what I don’t know is vast. I share what I have tried. Hope this info helps! be well and 73!

Hey Chris tnx for sharing another beautiful Piece of Mother Nature with us. I would love to ride that Trail you walked with my Mountain Bike. Now you made me thinking to figure out if a portable Stove could find some Spot on my Radio Trailer that I haul with my Mountain Bike...? I don’t understand, why do you send 72 instead of 73 at the end of a contact?
@KD2YDN

Anyone reading feel free to correct me if I am wrong. 72 is just as endearing as 73, but allows the other operator to know you’re operating qrp. I was using 5 watts on this activation.

So the stove might be more ideal for POTA rather than SOTA for some. This stove is 15lbs. But because it’s steel, it radiates heat a lot. I simply love it! Thanks for watching Gust. I’ll have the SW-3B on soon so we can get “that sound” lol. 73!
