I am so happy they fixed this! There have certainly been times when I've been using an X32 and needed more than 24 inputs from the stage but also needed one or two inputs at the FOH position. Very rarely do I need exactly 8 inputs at the FOH position. It's really nice to be able to just assign the specific inputs that you need like you've always been able to do on basically every other digital console!

Thanks, I received a "shocker" when I upgraded my X32 to V4.06 and S16 to V2.5. I had no outputs out of my S16 but all inputs worked fine. After watching the video about 4 times I figured out that User Outputs should have Output. Why in the world they didn't call them Buss'? I thought mistakenly output was the jack on back of X32. Behringer support was slow, Thanks again Drew!!

An impressive thing about the X32 platform is that updates are still being configured for it as old as it is. I bought mine when they first came out many years ago and was stoked about the scribble strips...no more tape LOL! I need more input channels though and considered the Wing. For some reason, it never caught on like the X32.

HI Drew, I cant thank you enough for all you do for us worship leaders that have to know the X32 inside and out1 I do have a Q though, and my head hurts from watching so many times and still not getting it. This Sunday we are trying our first post lockdown service outside on the from lawn. I use an S16 on stage that has all 8 outs set as mix busses. This week however I want to download V4 and figure out how to use out 7 and 8 of the S16 as my main out 15 and 15 so I don't have to run 100s of feet of XLR out to our portable speakers. Our board is staying in house and we will be running the service completely via iPad. You don't specifically address this in the user out section of your video. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Drew, thanks for the whole series of V4 tutorials. One question, wouldn't it make more sense in your example to only use the User patching for 25 to 32? Seems that would be a lot quicker to only use the User function for the "8 block" you need to split.

What output channels does the S32 use when sending back from x32 on the AES? You mentioned that the Ultranet uses outputs 33-48 and you have to use those. But what does the S32 use for it's 1-16 XLR outs on the back of the S32? Is it simply 1-16? Or can you change and customize it? I'm trying to understand the use cases of only being able to pass through 17-32 if the other blocks are locked in when using an S32.

Question: Hi Drew, I'm using an M32 at FOH, an X32C at monitors, and a DL32 for IO. When at festivals and even venues, sometimes I have to have my outputs come from the DL32. Unfortunately, the x32 is also pushing outputs from the DL32 since we only have 8 local outputs in the X32C. The x32c also is set to have gain control at monitors. Is there a way to make these consoles both push signal out of the DL32 simultaneously? EI the x32 sends out 5 stereo iem mixes, and I at FOH have 6 main sends for the PA. Justin

With this 1 to 1 routing, can you rout select x live outputs and have others for the worship team to play to? For instance, I made recordings of my worship team with drums. When the drummer is not available, can I just select the card output for the drum channels and let the rest of the team play along?

Yes you can! Set the channels you need to pull from your X-Live card from the "Card" inputs on the user routing inputs. This would typically be Card 1-2 or additional channels if you wanted to route individual drum channels. Hope this helps!

Is this a practical way to deal with linked (stereo) inputs so that only 1 channel is taken up? Keeping more "prime" instruments together? I have a Producer so can only access 8 channels at once. (I understand the left/right each require their own channel, but the right of stereo inputs could be 'stored' in 17-24. Does that make sense?

Hi, I have the Compact which has the same 8 + 8 + M. fader layout. Pressing (any) 2 Input bank select buttons (at the left of the faders) simultaneously will switch both the fader banks. So pressing the 1-8 & 9-16 buttons will give you 1-16 across the 16 faders. Or you could have 9-16 & 17- 24 etc. Re the routing: If you link an Odd & Even pair of channels they will give a Stereo (pan is automatically set L/R) channel output, but you can still select the same 2 inputs to any other non linked channels to give individual mono channel outputs. Channel linking options are on Setup/ Config/ Link prefs.

@DrewBrashler
@DrewBrashler 4 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it! For running all 16 outpus, you will want to make sure that your S16 stagebox is set to have the +8 output light turned on. Take a look at the S16 manual on the specifics of how to do this, but by default it will have the outputs 1-8 of the X32 on the S16. By setting the S16 to the +8 on the outputs, it will be pulling from the 9-16. Another option is to set your AES50 outputs 1-8 to be from Out 9-16 instead of Out 1-8. This would force your X32 to output the 9-16 down the 1-8 to land at the S16. Hope this helps!

Out 9/10 at AES-50A as StereoBusMix for Bassplayer (System Not mounted in the InEar-Rack)' 5. Out 7 and 8 at AES-50A as MixBuses for Monitor wedges What about the routing? What do I have to do? Caleb Botting you set the user channels in blocks of 8 first, so you could leave (for example) 1-16 on a digital snake and then only user designate blocks 17-32. I would think it’s worth doing it all as user designations though. It only takes a minute, and it gives you maximum flexibility.

Hi, By default the outputs to the USB Card are direct from the Mixer Inputs (Local or AES50). To have fader control of the Card inputs for your Stream, you would need to Route the card inputs to a Mixbus Output (post fader Tap, which is the default), then with Sends on Faders, send the outputs of the Channels you want to appear on the Stream to the I/p of that Mixbus. The Mixbus o/p fader would be the master level control for the Stream, and the Channel faders would control the mix to both the FOH & Stream simultaneously. If you wanted an independent mix for the Stream you would need to change the Sends on Faders Taps to ‘Pre fader’ then the Send’s faders would be the mix for the Stream. As with all sophisticated systems there are many other ways to achieve the same result, but each with it’s own features and advantages! I always have X-edit running on a computer when doing complex setups as it is much easier to see the routing paths and options (and any miss settings) on the graphical display than it is on the small mixer screen. Hope that helps.

The x32 could always do 1:1 patching. It is just now all in one space, and significantly more flexible. I have had single re-assigned channels on mine going back many years. I remember having my first 16 on the stage box, then my local wireless mic's and sources and had then grouped in with my wired vocals from the stagebox all in 1-8. You could reassign the source for individual channels through its config page. So I wish people would stop saying it was forced in groups of 8 as it was not.
@DrewBrashler
@DrewBrashler 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can do 1-to-1 channel routing like you are mentioning. But what you weren't able to do before is take only 15 of your inputs from the stage box, and then use 17 inputs from the local console. You would be limited to selecting 1-8 and 1-16 on the stage box, and then an additional 16 from the local like your setup. But if you wanted to have 17 inputs plugged into the local and then take 15 from the stagebox, you wouldn't be able with the old firmware.

@@DrewBrashler It was actually better than that. I could have my board in the default setup using all local inputs. Then plug my aes box in and grab one or two inputs to assign to any channel. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nafYeaOmq5Zgn9k I however needed x32 edit on a PC to do this IIRC... I took that video last year when V4 was announced and my production partner was very excited about it And I was "what is the big deal" lol. Of course once I updated my board and saw how much easier it was, I knew they knocked it out of the park. It really did add functionality in addition to how much easier they made it. We are both right to a degree.

Of you we’re working in a block of eight, you’re right. Try to make it with an odd number of input and you’ll fail prior version 4.00. Watch the whole video and it’s self explanatory what’s the new advantage is.

So, on the input side of things, how is this effectively any different from choosing a input for each channel on a channel by channel basis? Before this firmware upgrade, we were able to select a channel, press the home button, select the config tab and the choose a source for the channel. Probably I am missing something here. I just don't know what it might be.

Chris... You are right... yes You have always been able to Assign the pre amp of your choice into the fader of your choice. What this enables you to do further, Is select pre-amps from an external source such a wireless snake one by one instead of only an 8 channel block at a time.

@@aldoruizshow Thank you. That makes sense. We use a regular snake, so I never really considered anything else.

Apparently the answer is already in the video :). I use the user out and send the main LR to input 31-322. Thanks!

I am still confused about new routing. Using my X32 in recording to a PC. Routing page has a configuration for recording and one for playback. How do I monitor previously recorded tracks and record new ones to the PC?
@DrewBrashler
@DrewBrashler 4 жыл бұрын
Great question, Jim! The routing for Recording is when your console is set to recording mode, so you will want to have this be your inputs from the stage (ie. local or AES50). Then you can press the 6th rotary knob on the routing page to change between Recording/Playback to swap over to the playback mode. This you would want to have routed from the expansion card so it would play form your PC. Hopefully this clears things up!

Drew Brashler Thanks for the reply and the info regarding 1 to 1 routing. After playing with several combinations and new Calkwalk DAW software, I managed .to get everything working exactly the way I needed it to. Please keep up your instructional video as they are so helpful and your are very good at what you do. God bless and take care.

Thank you so much for that Video. I have a question and maybe someone can help me. I am a Tech Guy in our church and we are using the X32 Compact for some weeks. Now my problem is that the outputs from our console are the same like the outputs on our S16 Stagebox. So i have only 8 Outputs and if we are using the outputs for monitoring we only have 6 Outputs, because 7 and 8 are Main L+R. How i can separate the outputs on the stagebox from the outputs on the console so i can use 16 Outputs? Would be great if someone can help me out. I am completely new in this whole thing. Thank you very much!!!

Thanks for asking, Josef! Check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHPRpqiGeNN6irM. But you will want to make sure that your S16 stagebox is set to have the +8 output light turned on.

Drew Brashler, would/could you please PM me on iMessenger? Seems you have gotten me 85% there but not all the way. My set up is pretty typical I think. And I could use the guidance if you could spare, of course thank you, Drew. Compensation is available I’d expect.

Sir I'm banging my head on some stuff . Running x32 usb carded to a pc then to reaper daw . I us a dl32 for everything exept the usb to pc and aux for pc sound back to x32 . I'm trying to rough out a daw mix threw a aux out 1/4 inch say 1and 2 to a atem mini pro so I can run my live mixes with plugins from reaper . All 32 channels on the dl32 are used . Aux ports 3,4,7,8 are opened 1 and 2 in have a left rt from the headphone of pc and 5 and 6 are a click track route from reaper . Originally I had a matrix mix routed to 1 and 2 out and then that went to mix input of the atem and worked ok but mix could be alot better lol And thoughts out help would be great I am doing this in my home studio but our church setup is the same so hopefully I can solve this here . Thanks

It is very surprising to me that some basic features this mixer (along with others) were missing until recent firmware updates, and the need for an USB recording card. A 10 year old Tascam recorder / mixer seems to have more features and flexibility. Aside from the motorized faders can anyone convince me to buy an X32 and let go of my DP32-SD? Not only can the Tascam do 1-to-1 patching, it can assign ANY input to ANY track with a press of a button and a twist of a knob.

Hello. I would like to ask for an explanation: 1. How to connect X32 Compact to S32 and use 16 outputs. 2. How to connect x32 Compact and use outputs 1-8 from S32 and outputs 9-16 locally from X32 Compact so that you still have 16 outputs. 3. How to freely configure outputs on X32 Compac and full size. I am asking for help, which I need to connect more and more often and I have a problem with it. Regards. Paul

Why wouldn't someone use the 1-to-1 user routing exclusively, for all things? Seems to provide the most flexibility for in's & out's...just takes a few mins longer to config. I.e., are there any downsides to this approach aside from the few extra mins to config?

In youre video you mention Channels 1-29 used as AES50 and Channels 30-32 as Local inputs . Then in the user inputs page you assigned 1-29 being AES50 and 30-32 as Local 1 ,Local2 and Local3. THAT IS WRONG because local 1 local 2 local and local3 has already been assigned as AES50 . This will not work Channels 30-32 should be set to Local 30, Local 31 and local 32 then you can local input into Channels 30,31,32

You lose me at 8:02. When you get to the output section, you're basically assigning the source you want to send to the output. But "Output 15" isn't a source. Why aren't you choosing "Main L" here instead?
