I must of watched your X32 videos of multi track recording & virtual sound check about 20 times, it really helped me to get started on recording my band using Reaper, but i also have an XR18 that i used with Reaper for the same audio in & out Your teaching is incredible, keep up the great work, looking forward to the other video of virtual sound check 😊

My issue was I'm planning on using my XR18 as a stagebox mixer, meanwhile I will be far away at a mix position or tech desk. My Solution has been to create a 30m 3 cable CAT6 reel; 1st cable for "remote" out, 2nd cable for a USB over CAT6 extender, and the 3rd cable is for a 4 channel Cat Snake, which will be; Headphones, Aux out for broadcast, Talkback Mic & PC audio.

A video suggestion: Integrating Apple’s MainStage to both a) Host AuV3 plugin instruments and b) Route hardware instruments through the XR-18 in order to apply AuV3 effects to hardware for live use. This theoretically ends up with a “single pane” of managing/mixing hardware/software via MainStage.

Thanks for the video Drew, I have a question, if you are able to answer. I have set my DAW to record the tracks, however the signal that I get on DAW is really low. I tried to change the gain, on my mixer but it doesn't seem make so much difference. Is there another configuration I'm missing for that? Thanks

Hello Drew. I really appreciate all of this fantastic info. I am a magician who performs at lots of various venues. Banquet Rooms to Backyards. For my magic shows I know that the XR12 would be plenty for me, as I only mostly use 2 channels. My lav and my music. OK. But now regarding multi track recording. I am also a guitar player/singer, and am considering incorporating my music into my magic show. For creating my music, I foresee layering one track at a time into some future DAW. What would be the advantage of going bigger with the XR18? I am thinking if I were to create a multi-track song, and wanted to mix it on the XR, the 18 would allow me to both send and bring back 16 tracks for mixing, after they have been recorded on the DAW. Right? What would it look like if I attempted something similar on the XR12 (because I am hoping to get by with the 12 if possible. I also will consider adding the Xtouch. All of this conversation started from the Flow8, which I was ready to order. But I really want the RTA feature of the XR series.

Hello Drew, I hope you can help. I'm a new newbie to X air 18. So.... I've put a few scenes into a scene folder. When I open XR it opens the last scene used.... but.... I want to start a new scene from scratch ie. Blank page Clean sheet. How can I do this without going through a every setting and putting them all back to default individually ? And then saving that as a new blank scene. I kinda hope all that makes sense. Best regards and thanks for your channel, Pete from Scotland

When we are recording through the XR18, what does the routing need to be for the person recording their instrument track(s) to be able to monitor all tracks including the armed track(s) being recorded?

Hi all! Drew I need HELP with my xr12 and X air editor (windows). I've got an issue: there is no Record section and button in Editor. I tried 1.5, 1.7 and 1.8 versions and got same problem. So I cant record on my usb drive. If i use mixing station via WiFi i can see usb drive and can do the record. but PC editor via lan connection doesn't see any usb and doesn't have Record button. Where do I wrong? Thx

Yea the way you have this set up will result in the audio going into the DAW as very low. This came from Behringer just fyi.
