The Plymouth Road Runner is one of the most beautiful cars that ever manufactured in America !! Oh for THE GOOD OLE DAYS !!

Wasn't it just. The downplayed elegance of the 68/69 tossed the whole Detroit chrome thing right out of the window. Er, er, the 69 was my first new car, so I might be a tad biassed.

WOW this brings back memories! Charlie, my childhood best friend and fellow Vietnam War veteran, had surprised us all in 1969 when one day he showed up in a brand new RR the same year we graduated from high school. It was medium blue metallic with a bright white top. If memory serves, it looked most like the B5 Blue Fire Metallic. WOW it was a gorgeous car and that throaty 383 3-speed automatic sounded amazing. In fact, even though I came from a Chevy family I liked Charlie's blue RR so much that I later bought my own Mopar. Mine was a brand new '72 340 Duster 3-speed manual, glossy black with bright white stripes and trim. It was beautiful and FAST and l loved it! There were just no other cars on the planet that had that truly unique Mopar V-8 sound... except for another Mopar! Sadly, Charlie passed away from cancer years ago, but I will always remember how proud he was of his beautiful '69 Road Runner!

Interesting set of vehicles. I can’t believe that they made so many different colors and so many of them similar. It sure isn’t like today where you can get silver, gray, white or black. Bring back 1969!

I do like all colors that were available as well, Petty Blue is also a bonded color of mine!!! My first car, '73 Duster 340 was Petty Blue, Richard Petty is also my Iconic Mopar Nascar hero too!!!

When out of the Corps and home from Nam in 1970, I bought my '69, 383, 4 speed, 3.23, no post, red-orange, later called tor-red, bench seat, black interior, 14" rally wheels, hood stripes, manual steering , drum brakes ( no power), am radio, no air, and a great back seat ( lol ). I paid $2,200.00 for it. Wish I still had that car. What a car to cruise in and what Great Memories.

What a wonderful collection of a truly groundbreaking motor car, a great video and a mega trip for me down memory lane. If I said I was twenty one years old when I bought my first new car, that just happened to be of course, a 69 RR two door hardtop. So no guesses to how old I am today. I paid 3,600 dollars Canadian for what would have been a pretty basic car. It did of course come with the standard four speed shifter and a posi rear end and what passed for "bucket seats" in those days, to say nothing of lap safety belts that would surely would have driven your head into the dash in any kind of accident. The air grabber hood on the 383 was fake, but that said, for a kid of 21 years it was plenty fast enough and I drove arse off that thing. It had far more horsepower than I had driving experience. Somehow I managed to survive its excesses and my inexperience. But what an age to be alive, to own and put such a machine through its paces. And to this day, if I ever got chance to sit in one again, there would be nothing left behind me but black stripes , all the way into fourth gear. I have forgotten many things over the decades, but I have never forgotten that car.

It was so nice that you could customize your car back then. Beautiful colors. I found that first silver to be especially gorgeous and I'm not even that much of a silver fan. I suppose because of modern cars which are generally quite boring to me, and it's so common, but on that Roadrunner...Wow 😳😘 Class on wheels. Some of those oranges were really up there too. I remember a gorgeous red one on our street growing up as well. Stunning. Always oggled it when I walked by.

The car was a BEAST. When I drove it for the first time, home was 30 miles of city driving away. When I got home, I told my father I can't believe they sell something like that for driving on the street. He said what the hell did you buy !?!?......Told him a HEMI, Torqueflite, Dana 9 3/4 with 4:10 gears. I might as well have spoken swahili to him......!!
