On my PC, the import is instantaneous. However if you have set up Kdenlive to convert High-Def videos to proxy clips (for smoother editing), it takes about as long to do the conversion as the clip is long.

I think the first thing you need to get down is your soundtrack. Then you would make straight cuts (no transition) on the major beats. You'll be able to see the waveform of the audio track which should make it easy.

Try the GlitchOr effect for starters. Also look at the collection of Grain and Noise effects and the Blur effects.

I have version 19.04 and I can't manage to slow speed. When I right click on the clip and chose change speed, it only allows me to go faster than 100%, not slower. Can you help?

Hello Hagi! Sorry for the super late reply. So I tried to do this on 19.04. Right Click on the clip Select "Change Speed" Change the value to 50 - this will make the video slower by 50% If you want to speed it up, change the value to over 100. For example 110 will make the video 10% faster. To restore to normal speed, change the video back to 100. I hope this helps!

I am switching my creative cloud suite for FOSS because I am tired of paying a monthly subscription for software I do not own. Gimp, inkscape, and rawtherapee replaced my need for photoshop, illustrator, and lightroom. I am hoping kdenlive will replace my need for premiere. (:

@@yourcarly7042 I'm loving your FOSS move. I use a bit of Inkscape myself. I don't know of a direct replacement for after effects but give the fre0ir effects on Kdenlive a try. Not sure how it will compare but keep me updated :)

@@victorianodejesus Thank you once again. So I read natron or blender are the best after effects alternative. I am going to check them out and see what I think. I may upload FOSS tutorials in the future to help people migrating from Adobe's products have a smoother transition. Biggest problem with the majority of former Adobe users using FOSS is the fact the software design is entirely different; thus, you have to relearn everything over again. I thought about making videos showing side-by-side steps. :D

Hi Gregory. The video tutorial shows an older version of Kdenlive. I am assuming you are probably using the latest version.
