You're welcome! Categories aren't related to keywords and are quite hard because they don't really cater to low content books. I usually look for the niche I'm making a book for as opposed to the type of book I'm making. Eg. If I was making a flower colouring book I'd look for categories to do with flowers, gardening, floral, etc

They say and suggest not to repeat keywords but then again they suggested to write like "coloring book for men" "coloring book for boys", etc. Wouldn't that contradict their statement about not repeating as surely we see "coloring book for" is being repeating and taking up keyword real states?

Thank you! If you are talking about keywords that can be changed such as the 7 keyword slots then just change your existing listing but if you want to change keywords in title and subtitle then you'll need to create a new listing.

I purchase tangent templates I haven't used any of the templates yet lol Honestly, it would depend on what kinds of templates you want and if tangent templates have it, then get it. In terms of your book - is it because they are in a country that doesn't have Amazon? I can't think of any other reason why it'd take that long for them to get a book.

I’m still a little confused about the 7 boxes for example would I put ‘moms journal’ in one box and then ‘ mums journal’ in another box? As a very generic example. Also do you know if you can replicate the same book - say a notebook, with same book cover for mums, nanas etc or best to have a completely different front cover, so one with flowers, one with butterfly’s etc? You’re welcome 😁 In one box you could write moms mums journal. Things like notebooks and journals are fine to have with different covers. You wouldn’t want to have multiple books with the same interiors with things like colouring books, activity books etc. No problems! Ask as many questions as you like, I’ll try my best to answer 😊

Thanks! Personally I would use Funny Notebook in the subtitle and then in the keyword box I'd put "funny notebook for men women peers adults" (that would be 1 box).

Yes, I can intuitively differentiate them when I see them filled out but how do you know with a blank "book"? Is diary simply thicker than notebook and would journal only be with prompts inside? Thanks so much! 😀 Amazon have said that the Author name is indexed within search results so I guess people are using keywords as their Author name to help get in the search results. I think it's fine as long as the keywords that you use in your Author name actually relate to the niche of books you are selling. If you are more focussed on building a brand rather than just uploading thousands of books from lots of different niches then you'd be better off creating an Author name that isn't just keyword-y.

I don't understand it either, it's very frustrating. You upload to KDP US and when you are uploading your book you have the option to choose which marketplaces your book is available on, so you can have it for sale on all marketplaces or only some of them.

Hello Caroline! I always learn a lot from your videos. I’m fairly new into the kdp business. I have made around 21 books but not a single sale yet. I have been watching so many videos about keyword strategies but i just saw your video today and realised i had been following the wrong tactics all along. I have a few questions. Looking forward to understand better: First of all, i had misunderstood the details about the subtitles and had been stuffing them just like the examples you have shown in your video coz I thought that was the right way to do things. So basically what i have understood now from your video is that we should just put the title same as it appears on the cover of the book and subtitle as something precisely describing what the book is like a lined notebook or a composition notebook or coloring book, etc, and no more details like number of pages, size, who it is targeting, etc. Am i correct? If not, please explain. Secondly, im still not clear about author name. Is author name and pen name the same thing? If yes, should i put a different name for every book? I haven’t understood this author name part at all! And how do i come up with a name then such that even that helps in my keyword listings? Thirdly, its not clear to me still what i should put in the seven keyword boxes? And finally, after watching your video, i feel i have uploaded all my books in the wrong way interms if subtitle, keywords, etc, although i have worked so hard to make them. So what should i do now-how should i fix my current uploaded books? I dont feel right to just leave them without fixing them as i worked v hard in making them as original as possible.

I wonder, since the keywords that are in the title and subtitle are supposed to be avoided for the 7 boxes, does that mean they index the word from the title with the keyboard box phrase automatically without them being added into the boxes? For example: if the title of a notebook was "happy day notebook" subtitle "gratitude journal" would notebook, gratitude, and journal need to be added to any of the keyboard box phrases? Hope this makes sense!

Amazon uses the title and subtitle first to place your book in search results. You'd really only need those search terms again in the 7 keyword boxes if it made sense and was part of a different search term you wanted to use. So if your book is called Gratitude Journal but you also wanted to target the phrase Happiness Journal, you would add happiness journal to one of the 7 keyword slots or if your notebook targeted women you could add to your keyword slots journal for women. But you wouldn't need to add the word journal or notebook on it's own into the 7 slots.

No, there isn't a specific category for colouring books so generally I'll pick a category related to the theme of the colouring books. So if it's an animal colouring books, choose a category animal related. Sometimes I also look at categories to do with mindfulness, or stress relief.

If a book was just absolutely full of swear cover to cover then yes I would say to select adult content but I personally believe this is more for books that contain adult themes such as extensive swearing, sex/erotica, smut etc.

I have come up with seven key words for my nonfiction book, and they include the names of three other authors. However, they are important characters in my book not as authors, although that's how they'd be known to the public, but in the capacity where I knew them or learned of them, and I'm using their names only as they connect to my content. Will Amazon allow me to use their names as part of a keyword tail? Or, for that matter, am I allowed to use other people's names in my keywords?

As far as I understand you can't have swearing but I think you can get around it by replacing letters - such as F#!k etc. Actually, something interested happened this week. I have a book which has AF in the title (Like when someone says "I'm tired AF", meaning they are tired as f#!k. The book was approved to go on Amazon but I ran an ad on it and the ad was suspended "due to profanity in the title". Even though I didn't use any swear words, it was just the letters AF. So, just keep in mind if you do create a book with any kind of implied swearing on the cover, you won't be able to run ads on it.

How odd the authors name was so important. I put in my author name. All my books turned up on the first page, an awesome keyword niche score of 62 and 5 digit bsr's. Also noticed the categories have been adjusted by Amazon for me. Odd but understandable as they want my books to be sold hence beneficial for them. Thanks.

Yes, there is a lot of contradicting information but you can pretty much find all info on the KDP support website that talks about their guidelines. You can't change title, subtitle or author in your listing but you can change everything else once it's published.

If you go to your KDP account and scroll right to the bottom there is a link to KDP support. If you are writing that in one keyword slot then I would put "coloring book for men, girls, women, teens" etc you don't need to repeat words in the same keyword slot.
