This is such a smart idea. Some of those answers were still a little word heavy for my adhd brain LOL so I put the TOS into Chat GPT and asked for bullet points. There's a few parts that concern me, but one I really don't like is giving up my right to sue. Not that I'm sue happy, or am planning on going against the TOS. It's just that if they're doing something bad enough that we need to file a class action law suit against them (*coughaudiblegatecough*) then that should be our right to do it. Anyway, I'm probably going to use this technique going forward to understand the TOS of any place I sign up to. Thanks for sharing it with us :)

I've never heard of Don Rickles. This is hilarious. 😂

Oh, wow! Don Rickles was a legend. The king of roasting! Bob Saget (among thousands of other comics) credited Don Rickles as his mentor. I remember as a kid I didn't understand him. When I grew up, he made a LOT more sense. Dig up his roasts; he was incredibly quick-witted!

haha It's funny, I went through D2D's Terms & Conditions and they were WAY more understandable. Agreed! D2D is incredible for many reasons, transparency being one of them.

I am launching my KDP book (first book ever) on September 7th. I was thinking about letting my pre-launch list and other followers know that the book would be $2.57 for the first six hours before going to its regular price of $8.97. My questions....1) Can I change the price of the book whenever I want to? 2) Is this against any policies? 3) Is this a bad idea overall? Thanks, Dale!!
@DaleLRoberts4 ай бұрын
1) You sure can. 2) No. 3) Just be selective with how often you do it, you don't want to send the wrong signals to retailers or customers.

@@DaleLRoberts As always, thank you for your time. 1) Do you have any videos on what I mentioned? 2) Do you have a one-off paid-for Zoom session option in your suite of offerings?
@DaleLRoberts4 ай бұрын
1) I do but I can't recall which one. Having a backlog of 1600 videos between two channels has its pros and cons. 2) Not right now. I'm in the midst of an eight-book series launch, so my attention is all on that till this time next year. Pop into my Discord community (link in description). I'm there everyday and am happy to answer questions.

I could use advice on ISBN. Should I buy my own or use ASIN?
@DaleLRoberts4 ай бұрын
If you don’t plan to publish anywhere else, an ISBN isn’t essential. Get more details in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqbQhHqDgJJ1hposi=aDxg1BIhd47RqP_R

Wow, Amazon's pretty damn strict!! Especially with withholding royalties over every little possible issue. I may choose another self-publisher. Mind you, the rules of all self-publishing agreements should all be pretty similar. Heck with this... I was laughing at first, now I'm glaring at the screen...
@DaleLRoberts2 ай бұрын
Draft2Digital has WAY better Terms & Conditions. I read through all of theirs and all of PublishDrive's. I need to go through all of them and put together a compilation video of what I find. It'll surprise a lot of authors. It's no wonder more authors are going with direct sales these days. Trust is at an all-time low.

haha Yeah, some folks interpret the T&Cs in interesting ways. Or, some don't even read them and pass off second-hand knowledge as facts. Some of those groups are off the hook. I bailed on them a long time ago. Just not my cup of tea.

Mr Dale, I received a copywrite strike on a book poking fun at President Joe Biden, ALL of the cartoon illustrations in the book were hand drawn by me so I own them, they cannot be found anywhere other than my book and my personal computer, Amazon asked for proof of ownership and screen shots of the images on my computer which I immediately provided, my book is still not showing up for sale or in my series . I own all the images as I drew them myself. What can I do. The people on Amazon that I have spoken with don't seem to get the fact that I drew the images therfore I own them.
@DaleLRoberts4 ай бұрын
Have you gotten them on phone support? Skip live chat support and avoid email support altogether. You need a human to speak directly to so you can sort out what they need. Chances are likely it’s some automated filter that you got caught in. See if you can clear it up. Stay calm and professional, the phone support staff can be incredibly helpful and insightful if you come cooperative. Let me know what you find out. There’s one other option - register a copyright on your work. It’s not cheap but could stop you from ever getting issues like this.
@theresamcevoy61204 ай бұрын
@@DaleLRoberts I always register my books with the US Copyright Office (65.00 per book) and I will not publish my book until I receive the certification from the US Copyright Office (Normally about a month). The good thing about it, is if you do have to take someone to Court, you can get attorney fees for the case, but only if you register it with the US Copyright Office.
