Guys probably let his guard down or got frustrated that his opponent is not taking the game seriously and he too stopped playing his best OR he knew the principles of chess but was so used to the classic format he didn't know what to do in an unorthodox style of playing like this one here. 1400 is a long way from being decent at the game.

6) ..Nd7 would have allowed 7) ..Qxe5 which would have freed up f6 for the king side night, OR 7) ..Nf5 protected by bishop, OR 7) ..Bf5 protected by night. Any of that may have been a crushing lead in development for black. Instead 6) ..f5 is a worthless check, cuts off the queen, and leaves pieces undeveloped. Crucial mistake IMHO.
