Only Keane could write such an upbeat song about suffering from mental health issues, and produce such a superb result. It's criminal that this song doesn't get more airplay on my local commercial radio station. But with this album, they are back to their best!

Yes this is true, but their is nothing upbeat about going through mental illness, alot like me in New Zealand where im from, my young partner is on meds, I prefer alcohol, past trauma caused by mum and ex....unless you have been through it you will not know. They are a great band....their songs have helped me alot, first discovered their music 5 years ago just before I Left my abusive controlling ex...
@WibseyBantam4 жыл бұрын
@@Daibowmorgan Musically the tune is upbeat, major key and radio friendly. But lyrically it most definitely isn't. The lyrics suggest some level of personal experience of depression and it's courageous to highlight this via a song for the world to get an insight into this awful illness

[Verse 1] Well they said you were a bright child Never anything but joy behind your eyes No sign of all the dark clouds Spreading like volcanic dust over your blues skies Now they're looking for an answer Where the rot set in and set up the landslide [Pre-Chorus] But it only makes it worse now You're like a puzzle to be worked out [Chorus] And it's the voices in your head now Saying there's something wrong about the way I feel A broken link, a missing part, a punctured wheel [Verse 2] And it's not what you're expecting The way the world you built up could cut you down The way your head gets twisted And you sit up all night trying to figure it out And they say you've made your bed now Don't you see you've brought it on yourself [Pre-Chorus] And they say that you should move on But you can't even get your shoes on [Chorus] And it's the voices in your head now Saying there's something wrong about the way I feel A broken link, a missing part, a punctured wheel It doesn't matter what you say now It's like some vision in the stars that seems so real The way I feel, the way I feel, the way I feel The way I feel, the way I feel, the way I feel [Bridge] And everyone else has got things sorted out You stand on the edge talking to yourself You're young, left behind and tangled up inside [Pre-Chorus] And it's not what you're expecting The way your head gets twisted And it's the voices in your head now (And it's the voices in your head now) [Chorus] And it's the voices in your head now Saying there's something wrong about the way I feel A broken link, a missing part, a punctured wheel It doesn't matter what you say now It's like some vision in the stars that seems so real The way I feel, the way I feel, the way I feel The way I feel, the way I feel, the way I feel [Outro] The way I feel It's like some vision in the stars that seems so real The way I feel, the way I feel, the way I feel The way I feel, the way I feel, the way I feel The way I feel, the way I feel, the way I feel The way I feel, the way I feel, the way I feel

It is 2021, and I'm just now really getting into Keane. It is like getting into a television series late in the game and getting to binge watch. My son passed away of natural causes at the end of 2019, and of course, the existential crises that followed is rough terrain to mentally navigate through. Lately, I have to listen to Keane before I can get any of my college work done (English Major for teaching). I use Keane as a type of cathartic experience to help clear my brain fog. It's a dopamine hit. Keane has recently became my morning routine. My spouse ordered me my first Keane record last night since I've been relying on KZbin to hear the band. I don't mean to tell my life story. I just wanted to give a glimpse of how meaningful this band's music has been in my life to get my shoes on a walk forward, even if it is with a limp. Keep creating; we'll keep relating!

THANK YOU.... I've also felt the song is underrated... Tim has always been able to put Depression into words in an almost Divine or otherworldly way... Strangeland (as an album) pulled me out of a long bout of Depression... Tim's lyrics were like being held in the dark while you cry. This song as well shows his unbelievable talent of putting thoughts you swore that no one except you had into simple words.... thank you, Tim Rice-Oxley, from our community of those diagnosed with a mental condition for a hand to hold in the form of this (and many others you wrote) song.

This band has somehow found a way to tame the "fame monster" and all the years continue to be centered on important messages and their genuine love to create genuine music and it shows so much in every performance. If you look at a live performance of theirs from 2009 and look at how they perform now, it's with the same vigor and passion. When I watch them perform, I think, "If I ever do anything with as much passion as the drummer or pianist, I will have done something right and found something truly great." These guys are special. Society will lose something great when society loses Keane someday. When will we learn that these are the messages that we need to fill our day with? Not messages about sex, drugs, money, and unnecessary violence. Keane does such a great job in trying to express the issues of today and the human condition but also not dwell on them to the point where it becomes toxic, as most music and film does when it wishes to express completely unadulterated emotion and experiences. Keane expresses the pain of the individual just as much as they support and uplift the individual by telling them to keep moving onward and hold on to what you know is true and good despite it all. Thank you Keane for doing whatever it is you did to accomplish what you have. Whatever hardships you had to go through to get to where you are, it's been worth it as your music sincerely means the world to your listeners. Your music is the music I listen to when I feel like I can't do things all by myself and need reinforcement and for that, I have so much gratitude. You will always have a special place in my iTunes library:)

This song has changed my life. It has brought my honesty back. I cannot stop listening. Depression is this monster that hides the light. The world is always dim, and the sound is always turned down. We, the depressed, trudge. We fake smiles, we mimic emotions we are incapable of feeling, and then we punish ourselves for our lack of human abilities. We try pills; we try retreats; we try all of the snake oil sold. Still, we feel empty, and alone, and our emptiness and loneliness drives away the few who still bother to try to love us. It is an empty hole, depression. This song helped me climb out, and feel some sun on my face. Everyone out there, struggling like I am, I see you.

@@normathomas8276 I agree, but I don't know if you saw that comment by Tom (he probably deleted it, I don't see it now). Anyway, he said we're negative and that we live in a time of peace. Not false, to an extent. But what those ppl fail to see is that there's still a lot of selfishness, arrogance, ignorance, cynicism, and so on, that not everyone is as lucky as them and there's a deep misery in many ppl's lives. That's also why we have to talk about it, to make such ppl see there's a reason we're "negative", "pessimistic", etc. ...we want to solve problems, not sit on a throne (of lies😦😏). Not to mention what we do to the planet we live on, the animals and nature's balance; that's easily the first topic we should focus on, because the roots of these problems happen to be the roots of the rest of our problems. From wrong priorities (psychological issues that blind our judgement and render us immature and shortsighted) to lack of values, knowledge (education system, bad parenting, etc.).

Lyrics: Well they said you were a bright child Never anything but joy behind your eyes No sign of all the dark clouds Spreading like volcanic dust over your blue skies Now they’re looking for an answer Where the rocks set in and set up the landslide But it only makes it worse now You’re like a puzzle to be worked out And it’s the voices in your head now Saying there’s something wrong about the way I feel A broken link A missing part A punctured wheel And it’s not what you expected The way the world you built loves to cut you down The way your head gets twisted And you sit up all night trying to figure it out And they say you’ve made your bed now Don’t you see you’ve brought it on yourself And they say that you should move on But you can’t even get your shoes on And it’s the voices in your head now Saying there’s something wrong about the way I feel A broken link A missing part A punctured wheel It doesn’t matter what you say now It’s like some vision in the stars that seems so real The way I feel The way I feel The way I feel The way I feel The way I feel The way I feel And everyone else has got things sorted out You stand on the edge talking to yourself You’re young and left behind All tangled up inside And it’s not what you expected The way your head gets twisted And it’s the voices in your head now (and it’s the voices in your head now) And it’s the voices in your head now Saying there’s something wrong about the way I feel A broken link A missing part A punctured wheel It doesn’t matter what you say now It’s like some vision in the stars that seems so real The way I feel The way I feel The way I feel The way I feel The way I feel The way I feel The way I feel It’s like some vision in the stars that seems so real The way I feel The way I feel The way I feel
