Keda Dyes on a Guitar Neck - Part 1

I want to do this to the back of a jackson neck. The back is just plain wood no gloss or finish. Should i still sand it? U didn't seem to worry about the fret board to much. Mine is laurel and a little brighter of wood i think but not much. Is there a reason to not worry or will it bleed

I would think so. It likely has some type of sealer on it. Even satin or what seem to be plain necks typically have something like that on them. And no didn't I worry about the fretboard. With it being darker/rosewood I had no need to dye it. And because it is darker, you wouldn't really see any bleed.

Take bottle with liquid in it and keep applying it to the neck until you get the color depth you want. Okay, thanks. (I assume the liquid was the yellow dye dissolved in something but I'm not sure.) I know it is water-based but I've seen Keda recommend other blends including adding 50 percent rubbing alcohol to it (that supposedly accelerates drying). I will soon see because my Keda kit should arrive in 2 days. I looked for a "Part 2" but couldn't find it.

Sorry yeah I just used multiple colors (yellow, orange, brown). And yeah I used the water mix. This was cleared with String Instrument Lacquer IIRC. The part 2 vid didn't turn out well so I never posted. I really should try and get a decent camera setup. I've got 3 builds I want to start on, and kinda want to document the process.

Mohawk Stringed Instrument lacquer. Turned out well.
