@@waynefoote3781 Cutting social security has been in the Republican budget since Paul Ryan. Rick Scott has mentioned it in the last four years, his plan would have sunsetted ALL federal legislation in five years. Scott at that time was Chair of the Republican Senators Committee. Joe Biden referenced this and famously trapped the R's on this in his SOTU union speech and made them promise not to cut it. Ron Johnson has advocated the same idea, that payments of Social Security and Medicare should be part of the annual budget proposal, nevermind that Congress often can't pass budgets timely. Social Security is the primary "entitlement" program. You've heard discussions about privatizing it? I assume? The Republican Study Committee budget released in March, earlier this year, proposed increasing the retirement age more. But all they really need to do is run up another 8.4 trillion in federal debt, like they did under Donald Trump. The inflation caused by more federal debt will make social security worthless. The argument that "people have worked all of their lives for that money" doesn't matter.

We need the progressive community to generate more ideas for reaching the mass of people who are not involved and build the capacity to enact those ideas over the next two years. A couple of my ideas: If planning to move, people who love democracy but live in a solid red state could move to one of the swing states. (However, we need every democracy-loving person who lives in a blue state to stay there, so they don't turn into swing states.) Local democratic parties need to start doing regular community outreach activities (food drives, cleaning up parks, helping the poor and elderly) to become known members of the community so they will then be trusted by those same people when next election time rolls around. We need to build personal relationships with people. This past election, only one candidate's mother (local race) knocked on my door.

Well, thanks for that. I hope you've read the mandate for leadership, because the Confederacy 2.0 is about to rise. Wrong time for a protest vote, but I suppose you can take some consolation and knowing that you won't make that same mistake again, because there will not be a 2028 election.

@@robertwalton956 Not sure I object to the US turning on itself, either. Only way to stop the #1 superpower is from within, no outside force can manage.
