Thanks for the synopsis. I have been going back and forth about the XPR in .270 for a little while now. I think this commentary basically solidified it for me. Excellent review... And even better beard! Cheers, Brother!

Just bought a Winchester XPR with a 16.5 in. barrel in .350 Legend. I took the advice of the dealer and added a Leupold VX-Freedom for the 350 Legend. I usually hunted with a Winchester 94 30WCF but have moved further south in Michigan and face the matter of straight wall cartridges for deer hunting. So I now have a great scope and a heck of a cartridge with my first bolt action rifle. Sighted it in at the dealer's indoor range and had a 1/2 in group at 50 yards and a 1 in. group at 100 yards (pulled the second shot). Best shooting that I've ever done

I have a 300 win mag , its a tac driver shooting the 200 grain ELDX . Topped it with a Leupold VX3i 4.5-14x40 scope . Killed a elk at 600 yards with it and a 5 point whitetail at 300 yards . 1 shot each . Love it !

Nice presentation. I really like the looks of that gun, and it's what I'm leaning toward for my hunting/shooting. Thanks for the information.

I have one in 6.5 prc & absolutely love it. Quarter size 5 shot groups at 100 yards so far. I'm waiting on the xpr in 7mm prc to hit the market.

Hey Casey, this Michigan boy agrees with your thinking on the trigger. Inconsistent trigger pull will get you inconsistent results down range EVERY time ...guaranteed. Along with other values. I have found in my years of shooting extended long range that if you're not aware of what you are doing behind the trigger, just video yourself and watch it. You'll be surprised what you learn. Great video thanks for sharing.......

I have the XPR in the camo finished stock, fde action, and barrel. 7mm Remington Mag. Gave $800 for it new in 2021. Shoots a hair over 1 moa at 100 yards, with S&B 173 grain SPCE! Mounted a Ziess Conquest V4, 4x16x50mm illuminated scope on it! Have to try some Hornady ELD-X 162 grain hunter loads through it, and possibly Federal Terminal Ascent! My limit is about 400 yards, mainly my Elk rifle here in Wyoming. I likes it. Had MOA trigger set to 3 lbs. As far as gunsmith could take it! And FN owns both Winchester and Browning firearms now. 👍

I just bought that exact rifle. First time I took it out to get it zeroed in was less than impressive but it might have been the ammo. Gunna switch the ammo out and cross my fingers it zeros in.

I commend your thought process. I would like to see the comparable differences between the Franchi Momentum (Italy manufactured) and the Winchester XPR (Japanese manufactured)

As I understand, most of our home manufactures will not abridge a longer barrel. That said, it comes down to any rifle, which I personally prefer a slightly longer barrel which will certainly improve asscuracy; however, today people are looking for shorter barrels, but with them accuracy is considerably diminished with AR platforms and with even terminal velocities. With the AR Platforms, I would never advise a 16 inch barrel, but adding 2 more inches will improve all-around performance espically with longer barrels for a tighter groups. At 100 yards, five shots, they're either touching or a 16th of an inch or they're all touching if not the same hole. 26.5 or even a 26 inch over a 24, a standard almost gets there, but for another 2.5 inches, snuggs everything! It's also very important to have a scope that avails itself to finner adjustments like the tried & trusted LEUPOLD. I've never had to even look around, how do you improve on their consistency?! At least my two rifles shoot perfectly with my .243 and .270, I've use Remington ammo for years, never needing to switch. 👍👍👍

From one Winchester fan to another. Just a little bit of information... Browning purchased and produces the Winchester rifles. Best thing to happen to Winchester in many years. Although Winchester is a great firearm. History has shown that the company has had its ups and downs over the years. Anyway... next time you are enjoying time in your favorite firearms store. Take a look at the Browning A Bolt rifle and compare it with your XPR... you will find they are virtually identical. The big identifier is the 60 degree bolt throw. Which is a Browning hallmark. The top Browning rifle is the X Bolt and for Winchester the model 70. However if you are in the market... look at both the A Bolt and XPR... Prices are comparable and they are virtually identical. Many times you will find a sale on one or the other and sometimes at the same time. So if you're not finding the choice in one look for the other. Browning brought Winchester back to the standard and quality that it deserved. If you ever want to dress the rifle up some. Replace the stock with a beautiful Boyd's Laminate stock. Giving you the advantages of both wood and synthetic and very affordable.

The Browning Abolt is not made anymore. It has been replaced by the budget friendly AB3. Which looks similar to the Xpr. The Xbolt is Browning’s premier bolt action rifle.
@billmassing515 Жыл бұрын
@reruiz85 the ab3 stands for a- bolt. Lol
@vbence12 Жыл бұрын
The AB3 and the xpr have more in difference then in common. The trigger, magazine, safety, stock are all different. The bolts are similar but not exactly the same and the barrels are produced in completely different factories. They are both excellent rifles but they are actually more different then it initially seems.

Browning does NOT own Winchester.... After its 1989 bankruptcy, the company was acquired by the Belgian arms maker, FN Herstal, which also owns Browning. Winchester is owned by the Olin corp that manufactures ammo under the Winchester name, the Winchester name for rifles is licensed to FN to make rifles under that name.

@@vbence12 Yeah the XPR is basically an upgraded AB3.

I don't like how the magazine protrudes in the perfect carrying position, I prefer the model 70 hinged floorplate, I also prefer the 3 position safety, nothing worse than having a bolt fall open when the rifle is slung
