It’s actually a tradesmen’s trick to use a slightly deeper toned wood on the outer edge of framed projects to give definition, so I think it really brings it together!

OMG THIS ROOM WAS SO FRUSTRATING ahahah don’t be fooled. it takes a lot of preplanning and it’s still not perfect when it’s done. i recommend search on pinterest, home decor websites, even interior design websites and pull all your fav images and see what they have in common. i was super annoyed with this room because it didn’t turn out the way i had planned it to but i made changes like adding the big pillows, picture frames, etc to really pull it together

If the darker ones are bothering you just get some wood varnish/stain to paint over the lighter wood to make it slightly darker.

so it’s a little design trick that when you hang your curtains to the ceiling it draws your eye up, which makes you walls look taller and your room look bigger. and since i brought the wood all the way up to the ceiling, i thought it added nice cemetery that they were align with each other :)
