It’s not bad to ask for help, adulting is not doing things alone. I think in your situation you should ask for help, learn how your stepdad or anyone does it and don’t be afraid to ask questions. You learn as you grow. You’ll be fine. Take care queen. 🥰

Hi Keegan 🙂 Doing DIY can definitely be a journey. As a lot of the comments are saying, you need to get some advice from someone you trust and knows about doing DIY projects. You don't want to cause any damage to your home. I love the curtains.

That white thing in the hall on the wall is your doorbell. Please go to Home Depot or Lowe’s and have someone show you picture hangers. That mirror is lightweight and you don’t need to drill into the wall. Hanging curtain rods is different than hanging a lightweight picture or mirror. Good luck! You can do it!

Girl I want to bad to just come hold your hand and walk you through all the things 😂 I am a new homeowner as of a year now and I’ve learned soooo much from my dad and boyfriend. They walk me through how to do it and then hand it to me and say okay now figure it out. Just some tips: a stud is the actual structure of the wall vs the drywall that is just screwed into the stud to actually form the wall. You want to drill into a stud so the screw is in something. If you drill into drywall, there is nothing behind it. With something heavy like a mirror, shelf, etc. it is too heavy to just be sitting on the drywall so you need to screw into a stud to have something for the screw to hold on to once the weight of the mirror or whatever is on the screw. There are much easier to use stud finders. I found one at Lowe’s. It just beeps when you are on a stud vs when you are not. There is a stud, or should be one, every X amount of inches in every wall. Now I do not know the difference between drilling into a stud vs metal. That is something I would ask your step dad or someone else you trust to teach you about!! It’s always best to call and ask for help. Ask questions. Ask them to walk you through it! You got this!!
@ashleyrenfrow98442 ай бұрын
Also, a wood stud is much harder to drill into vs if you are not on a stud. If you are not on one, you will be able to drill right through and go deeper. When you are on a stud, you are drilling through both the drywall and the wood stud which will take more pressure. That may be what you were hitting in your closet and caused you to not be able to drill in as far. You just need more pressure *IF that is the case. I am not 100% sure and would check with someone who can take a lot and make sure you are not drilling into something you shouldn’t be :)😊

When I bought my house, we learned that metal protection boxes were in the walls to protect some of the pipes, etc. Likely, you have something similar. The good news about being a homeowner is you learn as you go. You'll get the hang of it.

Sometimes, they put metal plates in the wall to cover plumbing or wires so you don’t accidentally drill into it. There should be a stud every 16 inches. so if you start at the edge of the doorway and measure 16 out, there should be a stud there and then 16 from there all the way. Don't know if that helps but you'll figure it out somehow 💅💪

Just so you know, some builders use METAL studs instead of wood. They look just like a wood 2x4 but they are made out of metal. And yes, you can drill into them. Hope that helps. As far as a task rabbit, it's ok to hire help! Think of all of the people who hire yard service work, or housecleaning work, it's all good and makes our lives easier!! Yes to the table under the window with a lamp and possible plant. The lamp will provide you good ambient lighting at night. You could even put it on a timer to have turn on when you are on your way home or away at night. You are doing amazing!

Keg girl u have to calm down breathe if it said metal I’m sure it is move the stud down up to each side until it says something else. If it’s all metal find another way or another wall. Don’t stress yourself out that bad baby girl. Sometimes u can knock on the wood to hear if it’s solid or hallow. You also can use a nail hammer it n if it goes in that’s dry wall if it don’t go at all that’s metal and if it goes but not completely it’s probably a stud. Don’t worry yourself into tears babez.

You need the right size wall anchors in your drilled holes, otherwise the nails or hangars have nothing to hold on to. Have you considered taking some classes, like at Home Depot? Or will someone in your life that will explain all of this to you and let you watch them? Nobody knows how to do any of this from birth, it all has to be learned.
