GutharNBA not sure if this is sarcasm. If not, I’ll say that most rivalries are mostly from individuals themselves instead of gyms (except for 10P and the old school Gracies). As for gyms, find 1 that feels comfortable, safe, and friendly. Once you get to Blue or start competing, I would recommend branching out and attending Open Mats in other gyms. Just pay that mat fee and have fun with everyone there. Test yourself to see how well your training fares against other ppls training.

@@Bezmenov93 it really depends on many factors if changing dojos is good or not. some more traditional coaches will see it as betrayal especially if you aren't actually moving further away from the gym too. most wont say anything but you don't want people saying things behind your back in these places sometimes they tell people to go hard on you. Yes this still does happen a LOT. if you are training to compete professionally sometimes places have rival schools or they don't want you hopping around and giving out private training info on one of their fighters. Some people just really appreciate loyalty and hate those who dont have it. the way i see it is we pay a lot of money per month for the classes. they decide when you get to train . they dictate the class structure and how you learn, they tell you what you have to wear too a lot of the time these days and its become much more like joining a team then it is going to a gym to work out. so there is nothing to be loyal too. its not like a traditional coach student relationship. you pay out the ass for you and you rarely get individualized attention. it think there is great benefit to gym hopping but i also saw how many perceive that as bad. could just be where im from

Love your low key style Keenan. That's a tremendous move for the guys with so much muscle and power that they are immune to regular kimuras and armbars. I can see me using it as an option from a near side kimura grip so that I can threaten armbar/choke/kimura/tarikoplata.

@conjj176 жыл бұрын
It is more effective to finish when he falls back. More safe by having a better position and being in more control. The only thing Gordon can do is roll and he is showing what to do if that happens. Jiu-jitsu is all about control and having better position. Manipulating your opponent to do what you expect them to do and countering that. If he does roll you just come up on top again and rinse and repeat, or you can try to finish when on top like he showed. It is just showing 2 ways of finishing, and the first one is probably the more ideal way to finish it. You could also catch someone in a tarikplata off your back, and it shows the only thing they can do to defend and how to counter it and remain in control. Shows all the possibilities.
@yc25606 жыл бұрын
If you can, you stay on top. If he rolls you, you should keep the grip and then come back on top for the finish. So you're not supposed to fall back. It's just not lost if you do.

I feel like the whole falling back, trying, opponent rolls, and recovering gets back to square one - can you skip that part and just go straight into the turn at the end of the submission once you replace your hand with your leg? Ex. 2:30 and 4:00 are the same position, right?
@veratexanS5 жыл бұрын
Sean Cannon yes, but he was just showing what to do in the case they defend
@maluatuavene99215 жыл бұрын
At 2:30 Gordon is on his side and in a much more powerful positon to destabilise Keenan on top. Keenan can try to turn North on Gordon but if Gordon is trying to defend, Gordon is likely to try and get on top or at least get Keenan off top position and he will feel the opportunity to do that as Keenan is trying to get his legs in the right position to turn North. Gordon has to put his back to the mat to roll and Keenan keeps his back there by securing position on the top of his chest at 4:00 which means that Gordon is in a much weaker position and it's much easier for Keenan to turn his body North. Obviously if you can get the sub with the position at 2:30 you go for it, but if you're using it on a much bigger and stronger guy, which is what the technique is designed for, you're going to struggle to manouvre to face North, without your oppenent trying to throw you off and rolling you over. If you're facing a high level guy that is much bigger and stronger than you, you're never going to get the submission at 2:30.

How's this different from a Baratoplata?
@reasonablegentleman6 жыл бұрын
The best way that I can describe the difference is that with the baratoplata your heads should be facing the same direction so you can enter it from ( mount or guard) vs this technique your heads would be facing in opposite directions so you can enter it from top north south or an inverted guard.
@diabolic420906 жыл бұрын
you're using the opposite arm to do the armlock. If Keenan were to use his other arm, it would become a Baratoplata.
