Those are great ideas thank you. We have a lot of ant problems. I use a whipping cream container and fill it up with water and then put the cat food can inside of the water. I have not had a problem.

I have no pets now, except for a cute cat that visits me every morning and begs me for food. I love her... Oh I do have two Budgies ❤ Lovely flowers. The Sunflower is gorgeous and your kitty is super adorable!

Great tips. Thanks! You can also wipe the bottom of the bowl with cinnamon water. Ants and most bugs avoid cinnamon.

I just put a small bowl in a bigger one filled with water. My cats wouldn't tolerate reaching over a big tray or risking getting their paws wet.

Ditto. for the smaller bowl I use one of those pedestal dishes so the food level is a little higher than the larger one. For the larger bowl I use a regular cat kibble bowl so it's really not that big.

@@l.l.2463 the pedestal bowls aren’t too deep? Cats don’t like their whiskers to touch the sides of the bowl so my cat’s bowls are shallow…. Idk, maybe I could make a pedestal for them 🤷🏼‍♀️

There's a way to save the food but it takes a bit of time...the dry food can be poured into a colander or strainer, then sprinkle it with a bit of cornstarch (this will help detach the ants from the food) stir it around in small portions until the ants are released, (the cornstarch won't harm your pet) then store the food in a tight container...it's a bit of a process but it can work well ...hope that helps :)

It’s not hot now, in fact it’s been pretty chilly lately… yet, this a.m. I arose to an army of ants who converged upon my cat’s 💦 bowl..🤦🏼‍♀️ Interestingly enough, they didn’t bother with the bowl of kibble 🤷🏼‍♀️. 🤔Just moved in here and I can’t not have 💦 & food down for my 🐈‍⬛…. Really frustrating & not sure how to do the water thing since her bowls are shallow (used to easily be able to do for my dogs cuz their bowls were deep)

I have yellow jackets swarming the cat food all daytime everyday. Any thoughts on how to stop this?

It's usually the wet food that attracts them so the bowl might have to go in the fridge after your cat has eaten until the next meal time...the dry food seems to be less attractive...It also may be an idea to put a trap for yellowjackets nearby to distract them from the wet food ...hope that helps :)

They are resilient little things, those ants! Sometimes more than one method needs to be used at the same time like the moat method on top of the towel :)
