Just realized that the Pyrex bowls I used for Thanksgiving meals are between 68-70 years old. Things all through my life, (and even my daily routine, not just Holiday or special occasions), represent scores of years and people and conversations, and memories that cross generations.

Lol! I use vintage Pyrex bowls that my mom had, too. I use vintage Tupperware, Corning Ware, Revere cooking pots with the copper bottoms, etc. I find it amazing that after 46 years of marriage, I'm finding things I got at my bridal shower in antique stores.

Just look at her. You can see it in her eyes. A good soul. I wish I had a friend like her. My cat and hers would play together while we chatted over a delicious Italian meal (and they would get lots of treats too, of course!). (Italian here)

I love what you said about books! I have a room I call my "library" even though it is really only six bookcases. Most of them are filled with cook books! It does not make me a fabulous cook by any means, but I do enjoy the stories behind the recipes. I love the pictures, I love holding the book, and some even have their own wonderful smell! (I think it is the ink!) I just am so glad that I found your videos, because they put me in a real cozy mood. Light a candle, put on a cd, make a cup of tea, snuggle in a super plush blanket, read or watch the snow fall. You promote peace and I am so grateful for that, so thanks!

I understand what you are experiencing. Reading has been part of my life since I was a little girl. I, too, have vision problems and reading has become a struggle. May I offer some suggestions that have worked for me. Your local library can help you in so many ways. There are books written in larger print. If your library is part of a larger community of libraries, books can be borrowed from other libraries. These books can be sent to your local library, free of charge. Speak with your eye doctor, your prescription eye glasses may need to be changed or updated. This is an expense but I purchased a magnifying screen. There are several options and types available. Having a good reading light is extremely helpful. I like to keep my reading area cozy with soft lighting. Having a reading lamp using the correct light bulbs can alleviate eye strain. I also found some non profit organizations (Reading for the Blind) ; that can help with supplying some of these resources. Don’t give up! Ask and you shall receive.

Wow! You really hit the nail on the head here. I love writing letters. I don't have a record player but I do have a CD player and I put on Big Band music to decorate for Christmas. I love real books but my friends are afraid of my collection. LOL Most of it is heavy duty non fiction, history, politics, autobiographies oh and my collection of banned books in the US. My decorating is definitely from the heart here. I live in an A Frame cottage and I love rustic and my mother's art work and photography hangs everywhere. I did something for the first time tonight that shocked a few people. I run a group page on FB and it's always been just posting by me. Tonight I made a voice only video in explaining something. Some of the people on the page know me personally but most don't. Hearing my voice really sparked something in them which surprised the heck out of me. They really liked it. So as you say, the internet only goes so far on the level of connection.

I love all your videos but this one ..... A couple years ago I wrote out many of my late mothers and grandmothers recipes plus added some of my own ( I then in my own hand writing copied all of them and made cook books for my 3 daughters and 4 granddaughters). This way not only do they have 3 plus generations of passed down recipes their in my own hand writing. I've recently found my great grandmothers own cookbook and printing copies of all her hand written recipes to give them.
