Toilet roll tubes last my gerbils about 30 seconds 😂 I make dangly cardboard toys, I cut lots of shapes out, stab a hole in the middle of all of them and thread some natural twine through the holes then hang it from the bars which they enjoy.

Mine does the same but mine is super tame, like I could put it on a little seat I got and he will sleep, anyways he used to do that but he is tame now and doesn’t do that goes on it all the time, so many you don’t give your gerbil the attention it needs :(

My gerbils LOVE toilet roll tubes. They are great and are just there all the time because you are constantly producing them :D I also give them strips of toilet paper and tissue which they rip up and gather, which they enjoy, and they also love using it in their bed that they make, so it's great!

Gerbils want at least 15 inches of beding (mixed with hay, branches ...), so they can build proper tunnels. That keeps them busy too.

My Gerbils are older too and they no longer use their wheel. I love that you have hay in their enclosure. I get so much hate from people because I use a lot of hay in mine. Mine like to chew on it and nest in it. Love the video

Hi Faith! My gerbils are still young but they like to bury their wheel and they live in a 10 g aquarium (soon will be getting a tank topper) so there isn't much room and the bedding is always really high so they can dig. My gerbils love using boxes and hay as a sturdy base for their tunnels, and they like to chew and nest with it as well! 😊

Yess, I need more gerbil videos. After having mine for almost a year, I unfortunately realized that she is probably dead bored with having very little in her cage to do. I let her free roam once in a while but not very often. I've now been searching up diy toys for her to chew and mess with, thanks so much for this video!!

I recommend you to look up local professional breeders or people who have a lot of experience with gerbils who could help you get a second one and to introduce it to your current single one. That would be very important and just the best for your gerbil because they are highly socialized animals that always need to be kept in pairs otherwise they get depressed and it's just the worst to leave them alone 😔

I used to have 2 gerbils. One died (Sandy) because he got stuck in a cardboard tube somehow 😫 That left the other one (jack) on his own so I introduced him to 2 new young ones and after a minor squabble they got along and were PERFECT together and never had a single fight. Even though they were not biologically related, they cleaned each other and were kind but jack dies and now I have 2

Not the video creator but I think the rule of thumb is 10 gallons per gerbil! My vet always told me to feed my gerbils oxbow or a mix of oxbow and the seed gerbil food mix at petsmart

sadly american animal protection standards are very low, but in my country gerbils always get a 120cmx60cm tank which should be the minimum and they mainly eat millet, canary seeds and grass seeds but they love dried greens like ribwort plaintain or dandelion, too and they need proteins like flourworms, but not too much of them

I think they do better in 40g bc it's bigger and deeper. Ofc you could easily keep more than 2 in a 40. I've had 2 in a 20g long and they seemed too active for it

Hey I really need advice one of my gerbils lost both top teeth and its bottom teeth got so long we had to clip them. Then we accidentally clipped them too short so that his bottom lip (or whatever you call it) completely conceals his bottom teeth. We give him applesauce and a really great powdered food for gerbils mixed in when he loses teeth. He is grabbing his bottom teeth and opening his mouth wide and overall just looks really uncomfortable having really short teeth. What should we do (or will he just be fine)? I will copy and paste this to a couple of other gerbil youtubers who might know. Also please use the reply instead of just commenting so I get the notification.

Sand is NECESSARY for gerbils. They are dessert animals. Since they can't be bathed in water it helps them stay clean. If gerbils don't have a sand bath they get greasy and stinky. (I know this from experience)

This might be a weird question, but do you just put a box in there including the print? For our hamster we took off the print if possible and otherwise it was a no go (bc he kept it in his little cheeks and some ink would just stay there). But is that also required for gerbils?

He's probably extremly bored. If you have cage, I assume, you don't have a tank connected to it? So the bedding is not very high. It should be at least 20 centimeters deep so they can dig tunnels. They love that. So I recommend to get a huge tank sized 120cmx60cm. Also a wheel with a diameter of at least 28cm is a nice addition. Anything smaller than that is hurting and injuring their spines. Do you only have one gerbil? Gerbils are highly socialized animals that always need a partner. But please keep only two and no more because that ends up in fights and deaths a lot of times. You can search in Facebook gerbil groups for local breeders or people who have a lot of experience with gerbils to help you socialize your single gerbil with a second one. Please never just put two together in a cage, that will end with a lot of blood. Also those people will probably very happy to help you and your gerbil to have a better life.
