Great stuff, Sue ! .. Like you, I just LOVE this S&G song, and it's one of my very favourites from the dynamic duo .. As you say, it has a great build up and construction, and its only problem is it's over too soon .. I have vivid memories of hearing this on the car radio when dad took the family on an interstate drive to visit relatives .. Fantastic travelling song !

@wayne_twentyfive It is a fantastic travelling song for sure, Wayne...so upbeat with great rhythms. Also just a great song to bop around the house to. I bet chores get done quicker with this song on repeat 🤣💕

They just turned 83 years old. Paul last month & Art 2 weeks ago. Art & his son just dropped an album. They also do a remake of Sound of Silence, it's beautiful & is on KZbin. Art's son inherited his father's beautiful tenor voice.

Oh I love these two, pure class. Great choice I think they have so much to choose from but "Richard Corey" and "A most peculiar Man" are two of my faves.

Ahh you're really taking me down memory lane again Sue! I bought this album when it first came out.. I saw S & G when they came to Australia in 1984 (or it might have been early 1985) - I've always loved them - but the concert itself was a bit disappointing - they were late coming on, played for 45 minutes and then left the stage! There was a bit of controversy at the time about the volume of concerts at Sydney Showground.
@playitagainsue17 күн бұрын
@kimr3729 That is too bad about the concert, Kim. I would have been disappointed too. They were such a great duo. It would have been great to see them in a longer concert. Still you got to see them which is more rhan many of us. I am glad you had that opportunity 🤩💗

Simon & Garfunkel, both great singers, and they certainly had some fantastic songs. Where solo songs are concerned, I’ve always really liked Art’s Bright Eyes, which was released around the time I was 6, it’s one of the few songs I remember hearing from that age, as well as a couple of songs by David Soul (unrelated to these guys and song, apologies for going off on a little tangent😂) that were big hits on this side of the Atlantic

Love S&G, when I hear their music it just feels like home. My earliest appreciation of music involves S&G and I credit S&G along with Elton John in developing my early interest in music. During those days, you don't know why you like a song, you just knew it made you feel good. As the 70's progressed, the next artist that captured my attention was Billy Joel, fast forward to Styx, and eventually to Rush. Interestingly, the Beatles never really interested me. Anyway enjoyed the reaction, thx Sue.

@@JeromeDukes what a great comment and insight, Jason. You are so right. When we are young, we just like a song or don't. We don't think that deeply into or analyze the song. There is something so pure and easy about that way of consuming music. You mentioned some great artists/bands that help shape your interests. You had good taste from a very young age 🥰

@@playitagainsue You know it's not just a young age, I've asked my teen nephew and some some adults why they like a song, just to see how they would describe their feelings. And in most cases, even adults have trouble analyzing music. For the most part (even thought I play drums and took music lessons in HS), it wasn't until I was in my 30's that I had an idea how to answer the question "WHY?" Subconsciously the brain understands the music, and a person can detect key changes, chord changes and overall movement of music. Even without knowing a song, you can predict the movement what the next note should be because subconsciously your brain is locking into the pattern. I would say it was when I took up the guitar, I started asking questions "Why do I like this song, is there a formula/pattern I should know. It was from basic music theory that some of the questions were answered. If I was going to teach music in school, the song I would choose to analyse is "How Soon is Now" by The Smiths. The song is a masterpiece on how musically and vocally to use hooks to keep the listener engaged. A hook is something that repeats over and over again for the listener/brain to lock on to. Generally a chorus is a good example of a hook, but a hook can be an instrument, a short melody a drum pattern anything that the brain is yearning to hear again. Sue, listen to the song "How Soon is Now" and see how many different types of hooks you hear in the song. There are quite a few voicings that repeat over and over again.

Absolutely fantastic trip dowm memory lane Cant remember last time Ive listened to this My last 2 comments mentioned Dylan so why not go for the hat-trick One of my favorite parody songs is called A Simple Desultory Philippic Paul Simon poking fun at Dylan mid sixties when Dylan could do no wrong I don’t know full story behind why he wrote it but the made up and toured together years later The song is hilarious and a great rock song even if you don’t get all the references ( you’ll love it )

@jessem470 Excellent thanks Jesse. I have never heard of it. I love that you got a hat trick. Maybe you can go for 4 Dylan references in a row...what would that be called 🤪🥰💙
