Keeper Sturgeon on Lake Roosevelt - Extended Cut

Saw an old photograph of this fellow who caught a couple of sturgeon at Kettle Falls back in the early days. Both of them were over seven feet in length and dwarfed him. Of course, nowadays, there are certain limits on catching them. They have to be a certain size range to be keepers, otherwise you have to throw them back. Same with walleye, which you can also catch there.

Hi. I live about an hour from Kettle Falls and finally bought a boat and would love to get into Sturgeon Fishing. How far are you traveling up river from the boat launch to the location that you guys were fishing? Any tips for locating fish? Thanks, Tim.

If you fish the right holes youll catch 15-15 fish a day, by July 1 out family of 4 was tagged out, me my wife, my 6 year old and my 3 year old. you have to read your graph, best fishing in 30-55 fow, launch at Marcus, fish my the 3 point bay, or Beths bend.. all very shallow there, so look for the holes. Dont forget about the evening bite where Sampson creek dumps in. Dont leave anything in your truck, my 6 year olds Iphone 11 max was stolen. My wife had a Ipad stolen. Crawdads are the best bait,. use 100 lb test line. you will land some 8-10' fish but remember you can not keep those, so most you catch will be over sized. that means bigger than 63' slot.. but we get a few under sized, meaning under 50', most right at the line 48-49"
