Hey guys. I really do appreciate your honesty and insights. BIG THANK YOU! Clearly we all know that jobs are not "one size fits all". I wonder if anyone tracks and attempts to assess the wages-lost value for jobs lost or gained? I have never heard of anyone performing this analysis, which I imagine is difficult and time consuming if not impossible. However, the impact on the economy of layoffs of 10,000 highly compensated tech workers is much different than 10,000 jobs at minimum wage.

Great question from Bassman re: truth and bias. Disappointing DMB responds 3 out of 5 people means truth. One can find 3 out of 5 randos agree on a lot of ridiculous themes.

I think what she meant is that the market is priced by what the majority of people THINK the data is/means - Not what the data actually says. Which is true - We care about how people react to an earnings report, because the numbers on an earnings report by themselves don’t move markets - People move them based on their own interpretation of what it means to them

Inflation is still scary as hell for middle class, no matter what the official CPI spins. The solve could be that parts of CPI that affect middle class n poor is actually higher than reported while deflation on parts affecting the rich is also higher than reported. Due to faulty n biased datasets. We need CPI seperated by income brackets for the data to be relavant.

If one excludes the regional banking crisis of March 2023, the MOVE index looks like it's breaking out of a 2.5 year consolidation off the .618 retrace. A full measured move puts it exactly back to the GFC highs...

Mike! Do you do any meet up events locally in the bay area ? I'm a 36 year old napa native, now a Vallejo transplant looking to learn more about financial markets and macro. Fyi I currently work in a governmental agency that tracks data daily and the quality of subpar at best and sometimes just bad, depending on who is taking it. It really opened my eyes to all of the bad data out there .

When it comes to RE in Canada, the Toronto area, slow down, is so severe that I never witnessed anything like it, not even close. I'm an independent contractor since 1996. Story I heard about 1981 to 83 crisis was milder than the last 12 months.

Millennials are not having kids. Many, probably ever. Daycare is $3500/mo for an infant where I live. Not that I want kids, but even if I did, nope. Signed, --Millennial.

DiMartino Booth has predicted an immediate recession for well over two years. She shouldn't stay out till October, but forever 😂
@LostSoulAscension3 ай бұрын
Uhh I don't think that's at all what was discussed here... And if you're listening to any number of these types of podcasts then you're well aware of how complicated it was to navigate the past 4 years. From the changing of inflation protocols by the Fed from inflation 2% to average 2% Yoy, to changing the definition of a recession yet why change it if the BLS didn't use that criteria? Supply shocks, rates were higher for longer than anyone thought was possible, people in 2021 were saying we wouldnt even get past 2% interest rates but here we are at 5.33%... And we effectively saw a -27% bear market in the S&P without a "recession" and an A.I. boom to follow! No one would have expected that even the year prior let alone in 2020.

33:39 It's a bit weird when Mike doesn't explain Harley or Danielle that MMT wasn't tried out during Covid. MMT is descriptive, not prescriptive. Infact MMT pointed out that not increasing taxes (fiscal drag) to offset the fiscal stimulus during Covid would cause inflation, so the predictions from MMT'ers were absolutely correct. Danielle portrays a complete misrepresentation of MMT.

MMT might be descriptive (I don't disagree with you there), yet it is adopted by many as a prescriptive policy tool. I think she very accurately represented THOSE PEOPLE who think governments can and should spend without limits.

I lost over $70k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly. Thanks Natalie Strayer .

The government can keep printing money until the people catch on and start a revolution. Debasement and inflation are basically sneaky taxation and or theft.

How did she misrepresent MMT?
@imranfiroz89954 ай бұрын
@greg.ocallaghan MMT is not theory. It describes how the monetary system works with debits/credits among the Fed, Treasury, and Banking systems. Critics never try to understand it. They all believe MMT states that if you keep printing money, it will not cause inflation. MMT (Mosler) never said it-thats not MMT.

Mike, I am very appreciative of your work. However, allowing Harley Bassman to constantly break your and Danielle's train of thought with ignorant and disruptive challenges really ruined this video. Your and Danielle's train of thought was constantly disrupted and diverted to address his interruptions. A conversation between you and Danielle would have been wonderful!

Hey, don’t go disrespecting on Trump if you want to see a chance for America to survive!
@winstonwolfe25374 ай бұрын
Pathetic. Trump is the least qualified and competent person who has ever been in the White House. He has zero qualification to run a complex business let alone a government. He is so consumed by his self love that he is unable reflect on his own short comings. He is a narcissistic bully with no intellect, grace, humor, humility, humanity and skill. The big American tragedy that this man is able to convince such a large number of Americans that he would or could do anything for them. This man would never survive a job interview let alone a vetting process. Only a bunch of naive fools or ruthless opportunist would ever entrust anything to him.
