Keeping mosquito larva out of your horses water

Everybody knows that mosquitoes can't lay their eggs in moving water. They need standing water in order for them to hatch and develop properly. So how do you keep the water in your horses water buckets constantly moving between cleanings? This is one solution to my problem, and it works really well! “Mosquito dunks” I’ve heard work too and are safe for animals’ drinking water. And they keep the water attractive to female mosquitoes so they still lay their eggs that end up dying, greatly diminishing the procreation and population of mosquitoes in the area.

What a beautiful relationship you have with your horses ❤ I've always wondered what these were as I used to find them in old containers left out in the garden full of stagnant water,I'm also thinking of building a pond at the back of my garden and these were a big concern.....thanks for the video ❤👍

@@SFD-Horses do you think these would impact the ecosystem of a natural pond in a bad way ? Either way I'm 100% getting a solar fountain,I kill 2 birds with one stone,not only will it make a beautiful feature and help you to relax,it will minimize any eggs laid by other wildlife ❤

Christopher Williams that sounds like a lovely build. Most builders of backyard ponds don’t want the natural development of the ecosystem a stagnant pond brings. They usually want what you have described to enjoy, So moving water will have its own natural ecosystem that is a bit more favorable. You should be just fine. I have a solar pump in my other horse water trough. Perhaps I’ll do a follow up on that one.

Just change the water out as needed. The horses need fresh clean water at all times.

You go change a horse trough almost daily and see how much work and water you waste.

i want to collect rain water into a big covered trash can for garden use. i have a fish tank bubbler i use to aerate compost tea. would this bubbler be ok for preventing mosquitos in the collected rain water?
