I remember having to go out to a farm in dead cold weather to get a farmers Chevy truck running...a 1942 ex military truck ,which he needed to get going to run feed out .I rebuilt the dizzy and adjusted the clutch with ice and cold water everywhere. When I got finished,the farmers wife fed me up with a hot roast lunch and tapioca pudding. Didn't feel like charging them after that but they insisted I bill them.I hope you at least got a hot drink.

Cold work sucks! Try an electric heater called a "milk house" heater. Run it off the Bobcat Welder or install a 2500 Watt inverter on the truck. Set the heater so it warms your face and hands. Just a tip from a 'cold weather' mechanic. Also try some 'Fluid Film' as a lube on threads and other moving parts. It stops rust too, often used as an undercoat for cars here in the 'Rust Belt'. I also purchase 1to 2 inch foam insulation lay on. It's soft and warm on old bones.

I live in michigan, and the winter can be sketchy, and working outside rain snow or shine was rough, in the winter for doing burials, i would have to go to the cemetery in the middle of the night to make sure the wind hadn't taken out the flame on the ground thawing torch in the cooker. The junk we used was some homemade crap that would thaw an inch an hour when the ground froze deep. I usually drove the dump truck home, so i could plow my way into the cemetery if the weather forecast was bad. That job was a lot of work, but it was great. I always had to hire guy's my age or older because no one wanted to work from the younger generation. I see why you can't get any help, because there aren't enough people who can handle hard work. If i was younger, and not so far away, and didn't have ms and the other 10 thing's that cobbled up my body, i would work for you. Thanks for another great video Warren, and G-d bless you and the wife, family, and furry critters.

I found on my Milwhacky that you tighten that chuck as much as possible then turn it counterclockwise and you’ll feel like a detent of a click. Like it snaps into a groove….you’ll feel it. But just go counter clockwise 1 “click” and that locks the chuck. Took me years before I heard someone mention it on KZbin. Fwiw
@terryrogers1025 Жыл бұрын
Warren on the keyless chucks, most have a lock on them. You lock them by tightening the bit in the chuck. Then take the drill body in one hand and turn the chuck as you would to loosen the bit, turn just enough until you feel and/or hear a slight click noise, you are now locked in, they don’t tell you that in the manuals. Not all brands have that feature. Try it out, it works for me and ended that frustration for me. Thanks for the ride along sir.

Some keyless chucks have a locking position that most people do not know about. Once you get the drill tight there is a detent that you back the chuck off to that locks the chuck until backed off further. I learned this trick on u tube. Appreciate the video, Warren. It’s hard to find a good chuck on a drill. I wonder if you could Retrofit a keyless chuck with the old style Jacobs chuck? You would almost want a drill dedicated for drilling. Some bit manufacturers are grinding flats in the shank. The only problem with a good keyed chuck or flats in the shanks is you break bits instead of slipping in the chuck. I hate the burrs on the shanks after slipping. Thanks again for your time.
