What a fun episode! Not sure if I laughed harder at the polar plunge memory (I’m totally with Brandon on that one!) or Iko tearing her bed up and then refusing to hop onto that fancy new bed you got her. She was AMPED UP, wasn’t she?! 😂😂So sweet though when she finally got in bed and daddy climbed on there with her. So so sweet! 🥰🩷🩵 Great video!

Hey guys. This is Jim Lewis again. Love watching you in every video and very jealous of you on Fontana. They have really improved the marina dock and store since we were there. You are doing such a wonderful job on your videos and bringing back many memories for this old man. Fontana sushi; that is a new one. Maybe you can get them serving it at the Inn. Take care, enjoy your life and many thanks for renewing many old and wonderful memories of that beautiful lake and village.

Another great episode. Why use bags of concrete mix (which will harden with moisture) rather than bags of rocks?
@KeepingAfloatWiththeJoneses11 ай бұрын
Thanks! You could use rocks if you wanted to. We just went with quikrete for precision. It’s a uniform size that fits perfectly between our joists, so you can get the max weight evenly distributed in the smallest area. When it hardens they basically become perfectly sized identical rocks. 🙌

@KeepingAfloatWiththeJoneses11 ай бұрын
😅 that’s right! Haha we cannot add any more deck space to our own house, 400sqft is the max we are allowed. We will be adding a lot more to the cabin we’re remodeling though, as it is well under 400sqft! Little bit of both! 💤🐶👨🏼 🤪 See y’all soon!

I wonder what types of clothes do you have that most people wouldn't have living in a brick-and-mortar house? One thing I was thinking about is if you have to get into the water do you own a wet suit so you don't have to freeze during winter to make repairs? The other question has your dog ever jumped off of the deck of your house and if so how did she get back up?
@KeepingAfloatWiththeJoneses4 ай бұрын
we both have wetsuits, yes! 🙌 also spring suits. and no, Iko has never jumped off the dock. she reeeally doesn’t like getting her face wet so she doesn’t like jumping off things for that reason haha

Hello from the Arctic.. Just curious, why buy bags of concrete mix, when you're surrounded by free rocks ? 😀
@KeepingAfloatWiththeJoneses11 ай бұрын
The concrete mix is just a few bucks per bag, but we went with it for precision! You could use rocks if you wanted to. But this way, the “rocks” created by the concrete hardening over time are all identical in weight and distribution over the floats, making sure there’s no chance of unevenly warping the dock in the future. 🙌 Also… the Arctic?! How cool!!! My immediate thought was - are you a scientist?? Photog?

@@KeepingAfloatWiththeJoneses Ah I see.. lol No I'm just your avrage Norwegian from the northern most part of Norway 🇧🇻 @ 69°North. born in the land of the midnight-sun.. also, now in winter.. we have no sun at all.. 2 months of polar nights.. :) and just 1-2 hrs a day with dusk/day light
@KeepingAfloatWiththeJoneses11 ай бұрын
Whoa. I’m sure you are used to it by now, but gosh I don’t think I could handle the lack of sun for that long! I struggle here in the winter losing just a few hours of sun when it sets at 4:30pm instead of 8:30pm like in the summer 😆

You need a wet suit to go under water when it gets so cold. [Do the mountain lions/bears ever look like they want to swim out to your house?]
@KeepingAfloatWiththeJoneses11 ай бұрын
We both have one! It’s just wetsuits help you slow the loss of your body heat but they still don’t prevent that initial shock of the cold 😆🥶 Haha good question! Not at all actually. They’re still wild enough around here to see humans as a threat, they run away as soon as they see us (or hear Iko, whichever comes first lol)

hi it would have been better to buy sandbags because in the event of a bag leak it will not pollute
@olderwiser6411 ай бұрын
Oh boy! I had no idea and I watch that all the time. Going to find it right now. Thanks for the tip!
@brandonjones80311 ай бұрын
The quikrete will harden in the bag and stay on the floats. Look up quikrete walls. Pretty cool
@KeepingAfloatWiththeJoneses11 ай бұрын
The concrete hardens in the bag when it gets wet & sits in a solid block on top of the floats, like a cinderblock but heavier. It won’t stay powdered &/or disintegrate into the lake. But sand would, which wouldn’t hurt anything of course, it would just defeat the purpose
@adamgorman887411 ай бұрын

@waderue11 ай бұрын
guys why would not just some sandbags incase they open for some reason i would hat see what concert will do
@KeepingAfloatWiththeJoneses11 ай бұрын
the concrete hardens inside the bags and then the bags slowly disintegrate, it’ll end up being a bunch of identical “rocks”. Sand would just fall into the lake (which won’t hurt anything but what’s the point ya know?) haha

Congrats on being featured on Tiny House Giant Journey again! Sarah look up Redneck Sushi by Trisha Yearwood and make it for a delicious and easy treat. It's a hit with all the guys I work with. Every time we have a potluck, I have to make it. I even have their girlfriends/wives messaging me for the recipe. I'm not a fan of seaweed or raw fish so Redneck Sushi is my go to. The name is deceiving because it's nothing like real sushi but still really good.

@KeepingAfloatWiththeJoneses11 ай бұрын
😅 just a pilot! Didn’t wanna make it too long but seeing that folks enjoyed it, i’ll add more detail in the future. Yes just veggies (cucumber, carrot, arugula) since we didn’t have any fish on hand. Did not cook them, only cooked the sticky rice. Topped with sriracha mayo & crumbled fried onions, served with coconut amino acids (healthier alternative to soy sauce with same flavor). If you were to try something similar at home I would make sure to add in some cream cheese too! 🙌
