Hi Mark, So glad to find your channel. It is very helpful. Have you made a mobile with cross arms (like 4 end points) with wire? I am just wondering how the center point will look like.

Hi there! What a cool question! I haven't tried a cross-armed mobile, but I can totally picture it. If the cross was oriented horizontally (e.g., facing the ground), then the centerpoint would be where those cross pieces met; but, hmmm, if it was oriented vertically, that's a good question/challenge. Do you have thoughts on where it would make sense?

Hi Mark. I'm really enjoying your videos, thank you so much for posting them. I was going to ask you about wire gauges but I see that you already answered bellow, very helpful. I'd like to ask about "tension", I'm planning to do a sculpture and use wire as a framing device to stretch small pieces of canvas on it, in the same way that Lee Bontecou did. I imagine that doing it this way I'd need strong wire that doesn't bend easily, so that it can withstand the tension of the stretched canvas. What wire would you recommend that I could curve and bend, but that it wouldn't give in once canvas was attached to it? Thank you!

Hi J.C.! Oooh, I love this idea (and love your work). I see you sent an email with the same question, so I'll respond there!

what wire are you using? What wire would you recommend for all around use for mobiles? Thanks for the content I subscribed

Hi Billy and thanks very much for your question. I primarily use OOK brand wire. It's a galvanized steel wire that comes in a variety of gauges. For my smaller mobiles, I typically use 14- and 16-gauge wire. You can find it online and in the big box home improvement and art stores. It runs under $10 for a 100-foot coil. One of the great things about it is - since it's galvanized - it's rust resistant. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions and happy mobiling!
