ℹ️ About the Episode: When we arrived at Jay Cooke State Park, we were surprised there were no hook-ups. But thanks to our off-grid build, it really didn't matter. After three nights of camping, we dumped and filled our tanks before making our way to Austin, MN, to visit the SPAM museum (which was better than we expected!). Due to the extreme weather, we ended up finding a Walmart and dry camping on asphalt. At this point, we wondered: how many days can we string together? This is an extended episode of KYD based on the community's feedback. Many people have asked for more drive day details, and we enjoy sharing some of the more routine aspects of RV travel-though Trish is wondering why the camera is being turned on before she's out of bed!

Perfect episode. Love the tips on grocery shopping at Walmart, staying fit on road and exploring the local communities. Of course, I miss seeing Tori, Carson and Caleb but most of us baby boomers are living life without seeing our kids every day. You help to paint a picture on how much fun life can be with just the two of you. Continue!

Loved the extended episode!!!! A few years ago, we camped in North Platte for a night to avoid some severe weather. Being from Ohio, we have seen a few bad storms. But the plains experience storms on a whole other level. We are always nervous crossing the plains states when traveling west and feel like we live on our weather apps during that time. Safe travels, guys!!! Already looking forward to next week's episode!

Good to see you guys and all the same daily tasks we are used to as well. We are returning to life on the road in America and setting up our 4Runner for towing. I agree on using the potable water at dump stations. I've seen too many disgusting things at dump stations to use it for anything but dumping. Where do you refill your fresh water tank? We have never had to consider this until now, but we have a trip coming up in the UP in Michigan and will be staying at several different campgrounds, some of which are state parks which don't have water hookups.
@Oldoregonnurse

Amen to that. We frequently fill our tank at home rather than chancing gross water.

I also hate getting water from the dump station! There are campgrounds that have that as the only place to get water. I have to try not to think about it. We've also seen horrible things happen at dump stations, including putting the hose well up into the tank to rinse it out and then dropping their latex gloves right into the hole (ugggh) and etc. My hubby won't even touch their clean out water hose anymore! He uses our outside shower for cleaning our sewer hose. At least it's our germs that way!

Welcome to Nebraska ( a little late) from Mary & Kurt ( Kurt commenting). Hope you enjoyed your stay. When driving through Lincoln on I80 you were about 18 miles away from us. We’ve never tried tanking. We’ll have to watch Sunday to see how it goes. This weekend July 19-22 we are camped with our RV at the Camp Creek Threshers annual antique machinery and threshing show. We show antique radios in a working display. We have been getting a lot of rain this summer. I enjoy watching. Keep up the great work. Maybe our paths will cross some day.

We just completed a month-long 5200 mile journey from Texas to BC Canada and back. 9 states, it was epic. It was all lovely but I think Rainier was really the high point. That and getting to take our RV on multiple Ferries. So cool!! Safe travels you guys!

Enjoyed seeing your travel days, they match ours. Weather can be a pain and a blessing. I have to comment on your Maple visit. You appreciate good food I have to share a salad dressing I discovered traveling in Colorado. Maple syrup dressing YUM! I don't have a recipe, I wing it. Maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, peanut butter, grey coupon, pepper. I consider the peanut butter the oil. When you feel inventive in the kitchen its a delicious treat.

I am a motion picture Prop Master years ago when I was an assistant Prop Master we had a designer set aloft downtown Los Angeles. According to a diesel trucker I asked when I was wondering which to chose, premium diesel is for the winter, at least in the Midwest. I guess they add additives to lower the freeze point and or increase the viscosity as cold weather causes the diesel to thicken. 🤷‍♂️
